    Default I actually won something!!

Last night I was at a fundraiser for the National Wild Turkey Federation. I usually just waste $100 or so for the cause and go home with a hat but this year, I did better!

I bid and won an auction for NWTF knife #9 (out of only 12). The winners of the 12 knives then got put in a drawing for a "special addition" prize, A Fausti O/U 12 ga shotgun. Good old number 9 was the winning chip!! I got a really cool little knife and the best part is that I get to go to L.L. Beans this afternoon to pick up my free shotgun! I'll be sure to get a picture of it before I load it into the canoe to bring it home!

Good for you Camp. A buddy of mine went through a spell where if he entered something he won. In less than a year, he won a rifle, shotgun, and at least a 1/2 dozen rods and reels, I hope this same thing happens to you. While your at Bean's pick up a flotation bag.

Congratulations!!! Pics of the shotgun!!!! Can any turkey attend these functions or do you have to be a wild turkey? (I sort of suspected that about you, by the way).

You know, I really should get one while I'm there! I duck hunt some and my brother spends the whole time laughing at me for having a milk jug tied to the trigger guard!

@ Rick I dont have the shotgun yet but I will get a few pictures when I do. Any turkey with a ticket is welcome!

    Congrats!! You deserve it.

Congrats, It's good to be the "Winner".

I belong to Ducks Unlimited and have been on the committee for a lot of years.
Our fund-raising dinner is coming up this month.

Spent a lot of time and money on auctions, silent auctions, raffles, and all the games, "The Duck pooping on a numbered square", "Gold fish Races" etc.
Over the years I guess I have been pretty lucky as well, but it does kinda come down to, You can't win, if you don't play....and it cost to play.

I don't consider it a "waste of money", but it is good to see someone that only buys one or just a couple tickets....and wins.
On the other hand if I had all the money I spent over the years, I could buy pretty much anything I wanted.
    Called "Fun"?

Sounds like your knife was kinda a 2 tier raffle, tough to win, Congrats again.............

I didnt mean "waste of money" really hunter. I go to lots of their fund raisers ( I am a member) and drop $100 give or take at each one, I am just very used to seeing other win! I know that the money is used for education, conservation and preserving land for hunting. They also lobby for hunter's rights and push hard for safety and sportsmanship.

And now I am off to get my shotgun!

It seems the nice people from the NWTF forgot to tell the people from Beans that there will be people coming to pickup their firearms! The one guy that can enter them into the system only works Mon-Fri so I cant get my shotgun until tomorrow. Oh well...Pictures tomorrow, Maybe.

That sucks...but I know what you mean.
    At least it's a shotgun.

Seems that there was a Wildlife Federation Dinner I had tickets to, but didn't go. Won Grand prize anyway, a rifle.
(Big argument between a guy and his boy, co-chairmen of the event, as to weather on not I should have won as I wasn't there, that ended up with both of those guys dropping out of the organization)

Had the gun dealer come from 80 miles away, but as I didn't go to the dinner and picked it up there, I had to contact "a guy" and go pick it up.

Well, as It's a rifle, I had to get a scope, mounts, rings, sling, new case....so it cost me about $300 bucks to take my "Prize" home.
