    Default First Alaskan Experience

Well my mother-in-law got in yesterday to see us, so we decided to take her and our baby boy to Fur Rondy. Our little man got his first dog sled ride and he loved it. Heading to Seward tomorrow to see the Sea Life Center. Trying to enjoy our last few months in Alaska.

Awesome! I am glad they had fun!

There is an interesting optical illusion in the photo....it looks like your mother in law is holding the snow hook (sharp metal sled anchor) under her arm and next to your little ones head! But, then after closer observation, you realize her jacket has a stripe on the arms, and that stripe is lined up perfectly with the hook. At first glance I thought..."Holy cow! what is that musher thinking having their rider hold the snow hook like that! Lol...looked like an awesome day!

The two lines going up over the sled bag end in ice/snow hooks. Yes this means they ride right next to her face.

1stimestar...your set up isnt that much different than mine....but in that first photo by doug, at first glance it looked like the seated lady was actually holding the snowhook under her arm....which seemed odd and uncomfortable. But, she isnt...its just the stripe on her coat lining up with the snow hook....I am not trying to critique anything

Lol I see what you mean. No, I didn't think you were being critical at all.
