Default The novelty is nearly gone!

I was going to call the thread " Hey Winnie, still like snow?" but she probably still does. I always say that I like winter up until some point in Feb. when it goes from play to work and today is close to the tipping point! I had to shovel the garage roof today, the second time this winter. Normally, it is a once a winter job but the snow has really started to add up and I had to climb up there and do it again.

The garage is about 30 feet tall and the snow was about 3 1/2 feet deep! I dont know what is the hard part about this job..staying on the roof (it's an 8-12 pitch) or shoveling the heavy snow! So, I'm heading out with the snowmachine to break out some trails and remind myself that winter is fun!

Well, two good things about an accumulation like that - 1. as you push it off the roof you won't have nearly as far to fall and 2. If it snows again you won't need a ladder, but rather just walk up to the roof.

Yup, as far as I'm concerned, you can never have too much snow. Sorry!

LOL I'm just the opposite! If there is an inch I'm ready for spring! I hate snow! If there's enough to make just 1 snowball, it's too much.

    Default I'm with Winnie

I like snow in the winter--that's what winters are about.
Mountains and mountains of snow will suit me just fine.

Novelty nearly gone? It was gone after the fist day for me. LOL!! I HATE the cold and snow. NOT a fan. If I could live in Hawaii, I would totally be there. LOL!

Yeah, I'm kinda done with it. I was on the roof for the second time too. Just to chop the ice dams, which is usually done once during the January thaw (that we didn't have). We have a tin roof here. Once the ice is gone along the edge, the snow just sails off. Sometimes it even waits for me to get down off the ladder!

I never had a roof rake until this year (been in Maine 36 years) , and it has been in constant use for the last two weeks. Trouble is it is only 16 feet long, and I can only just touch the edges on the roof. The back of the house, north side, I have started using thistle socks with calcium chloride to melt the ice dams on the edges. I tie a nylon string on the sock after filling with the calcium, then use the roof rake as a yard arm and put them where I need the melting to go on first. It seems to be working very well.

I live in North Ohio and I have hated snow for many years. I need to stay here for family duties to my parents. When I get a chance, I will move to near Swananoa NC to live out my days.

Ah Arizona, below the rim no snow to shovel. Before any of you start, I grew up in the "burb's" south of Chicago before they were called the burb's. Survived the snow strom of "67", done my time.

The only thing I don't like about snow is driving in it. As I had to going to my father's funeral. It took an extra hour to get there and an extra 3 hours to get back.

I'm all better now! I went for a ride on the snowmachine that afternoon, held it to the bars across the river and decided winter isnt so bad again! This weekend, I'm finally getting to camp and hope to put a few hundred miles on the sled...and maybe a dozen on the snowshoes. That should scare off the winter blues for another few weeks!

I love snow, ever try to snowshoe with out it. One of my favourite times was when I worked on a island one winter. there were no cars and we used snowmobiles instead. it was awesome. as far as I'm concerned they can quit plowing the roads anytime.

If you snowshoe without snow that's just shoeing isn't it?
