I just wanted to show you what I am doing with him. I am starting him back under tack and my plans are to hopefully show him by the end of the year. Here is a video of him that I made today.

Did something happen that he couldn't be ridden for a while?

Hard to believe something so large can be so gentle and well mannered.

I have been scared of the male horse since I was 13 yers old. I was trampled by a stallion and ever since then I wouldn't have anything to do with him. We broke him to ride him but Mel don't ride much and I have two mares that I used to ride. I only have the one now. My boys want to start riding with me so I am wanting to retrain him for a rider so that I can ride him and my boys can ride Cutter there horse when we go on trail rides.

He is. He's really a magnificent animal. When I got him it took all of about 5 minutes to decide. I went into the stall with him alone and sat down on a 5 Gallon bucket. Our interaction in that short time told me all I needed to know about him. I've never been disappointed.

No he hasn't forgotten anything. He's really one of the smartest creatures I've met Horse wise. Really gentle with the boys too. His disposition is the reason he's still a stallion and not a gelding.

The reason he wasn't ridden for so long was where we had him was a long ways away and we only got to see them about once a week(and ride)..... so we moved them closer. The problem was that the people who had control of the property, would not allow HIM to be ridden on the property because they were afraid something MIGHT happen. So he wasn't ridden for almost 2 years.... which meant that he really needed to have some "refresher training" before he could be ridden safely again. Also I have kind of "Forced" Dottie to do this, to help her get over her fear of Male horses. This is the best horse for her to do that with, bar none, because of his gentle disposition and that he is a stallion.(besides he is ours and always available)

And to show his willingness watch this video.... good for a laugh with me working him "Free" in the Round pen. (....Which is actually square, Most "Round pens really are round. The term "Round pen" really just refers to a small confined area used to train horses, regardless of shape or size.)At the time this video was done he hadn't been worked with for several months.

Beautiful animal. I notice in the video that when he comes up to your face you use the same word or sound the wife uses with the dog when she doesn't do as she should. :>) Anyway it gets his attention as quickly as it gets the dog's. Must be something universal. Ahh!!
Not sure if that's how to spell it but used in the right tone they seem to understand.lol
