Another first
This is my first hollow grind. I also added some filework on the spine and a swedge. I think flat grinnding is a bit easier to do than hollow, but man it really makes for a good cutter. Whatcha think?

Steel is 1084 and the handles are ivory paper micarta.

Great looking filework Frank. I once you set the "groove" hollow grinding is not too bad. Real easy to get too thin though.

Can I ask how do you accomplish a hollow grind? I assum on the round part of you sander, but wow, seems like you need a good eye and hand to keep it uniform.
Thanks guys! Jp you are right about the big contact wheel being the part you use to do this type of grind. Its pretty much like p moore said. I established the groove and worked it up and down until it was even. I really like the way it cuts. I don't know how well a HG would hold up to batoning through a hard wood though. Anybody here know?

Well, cause I didn't know the difference between grinds, I googled. Apparently, the hollow grind is the sharpest, but not much for chopping or hard work cause the point isn't nearly as strong as some of the other grinds. I wouldn't try it personally on that knife. Maybe a scrap piece as a lets see kind of thing. I know I'd be mad if I chipped that blade trying to do something I have a dozen other tools to do it with.
