Thread: Merry Meet!

    Smile Merry Meet!

Hi everyone! Love the site and was happy to find an active forum here as well. I am living in NH right now. Just divorced and left my homestead of 15 years, so enjoying all of the luxuries of my new life, especially having internet 24 hours a day and being able to run more than 3 lights at night! I feel very, very spoiled but looking forward to going back to "real" life.

Just a regualer Jane, homeschooled two girls (now teenagers) wildcrafter, herbalist, gardner, farmer who keeps (kept) goats and a mean duck named Lilly. Currently I am looking for a new place to set up homestead which is exciting!
There is always so much to learn and I am happy to have like minded people to chat with.

    Cheers!

Thank you for the welcome guys! Quite a few Alaskans here, eh? How is the farming there? I can imagine a fruitful season would be very short. :P
1stimestar- I have not a clue where I am going to settle just yet. I am with family in NH right now and still have the feeling of being on vacation. I can't do anything until spring so just enjoying myself until then! By then I am sure I will be fed up, bored and annoyed with society. haha

    Thanks again for the welcome!

Alaska has a short growing season, but with rich soils and 22 Hours of sunlight, Alaska has very good farming, and grows monster produce.

Question for the Alaskans-what parts of Alaska do you reside, and enjoy. Generally speaking. It's a big place! I have been reading threads for awhile now, great info and am curious about Alaska.

I live on the south shore of Turnagain Arm, about 85 miles south of "Los Anchorage". The only place I have found on the planet that I like better is New Zealand. There are lots a men in Alaska, but they tend toward being very independent, and obsessed with outdoors activities. You are hysterical!!! And oh, New Zealand stole my heart as well! We backpacked there for 3 months when I was 20. Stayed mostly on the south island, I feel in love with the milford sound. *sigh* Good times, nice people.

    Thanks for the welcome camp!

Yep, we do say that lol. I live in the middle of the state, just a bit north of Fairbanks. You can get a good idea about life up here by looking at my blog in my signature. Of course, you could live in town and have a fairly normal life.
