Default Indiana Considers Ban on Penning

If you aren't familiar with penning then you are in for a real treat. Foxes and yotes are captured in the wild then released in fenced in enclosures (pens) where a pack of dogs attacks them. It's a pretty vicious affair. Similar to dog fighting but here its many on one. Pretty bizarre.

    Caution, this is pretty graphic.

I would have assumed that this activity was already banned under general animal abuse laws.

It is still allowed in Indiana and it's causing quite an uproar. There is one penning facility but foxes can still be sold to out of state pens. The selling of yotes out of state has been banned.

A "Yoté" is an abstract strategy game from West Africa, where it is a popular gambling game due to its fast pace. A player wins by capturing all opposing pieces.

Well, I didn't think the two even resembled each other. It happens to be a current topic that impacts hunters and trappers.

You know how it's gonna play out. I'll write the script ahead of time with the usual comments from the usual suspects. Just sit back and read and then tell me I was wrong.

Well, that wasn't my intent. If it runs that way, I'll close it.

If you [meaning whatever person involved in this activity] need an extra law explicitly stating that this is a crime then I guess you need it.

We have had -for some reason- to go out of our way and make laws affirming that specific kinds of murder are still murder too.

I would have made the same assumption as JC and Ken.

I'm not for animal torture but "Coyote Rescue Center?" Coyotes don't need rescuing their numbers have never been higher. Indiana's deer and turkey, most notably the turkey, populations are suffering because a population explosion of coyotes. It gets better, coyotes used to be solitary hunters; but now with the removal of wolves from most areas, wolves help keep coyote populations in check, coyotes are turning into pack hunters. To take advantage of the available bigger prey, deer in the wild, sheep, cattle, llamas, alpacas and goats on ranches and farms. I don't care about penning because it isn't that big of a problem. They don't have the pens all over creation, just a few places around the country, some where it is already illegal. I think it is just the animal rights fanatics drumming up some dramatic concern to earn political capital.

there have never been more people that there are right now. does that mean that people in life threatening abusive situations don't need help?

    check your reasoning.

I think it is just the animal rights fanatics drumming up some dramatic concern to earn political capital.
this sounds probable, we both know it happens all the time, but that doesn't make the activity any less disgusting.

The site was an animal hugger site. I wasn't all that impressed with it. I only selected it because it did show the vids.
