I was killing time in a shop that happened to sell guns and since I don't know much I took a close look and saw a hole in the left side of all of them and it ain't a a place to oil them, it's a LOCK. I checked around just for fun and found all gun stores in 100miles of here and they all had locks. I looked them up and found it was some crazy law several yrs. ago. I called some more and found one shop in TN that was getting some without the hole. Anyone have a problem with them locking up? Read up and found several folks had and most just won't buy them. Might as well carry a rock if you have to unlock your revolver to shoot somebody.

I have not been inside one of the new internal lock S&W revolvers but I will just about bet the lock can be removed.

I have a Tarus and a Rossi with the allen head key lock on the back of the hammer. I unlocked them when I bought them and have no idea where either key is.

The presence of the hole should do nothing to hinder the operation. S&W revolvers are not air tight and the frames have plenty of places for grit and stuff to access the inside other than the lock access hole.

I have a Tarus with the lock. I don't engage the lock nor the manual safety. My view is either a handgun is loaded and ready to go or it is locked in a safe.

I have had no problems with the Tarus.

I have several S&W revos. Some have the lock; some of the older ones don't. I don't pay much attention to it. I haven't had any trouble with mine, but others claim to have had the gun lock up on them due to unintended locking.

the advent of Keltec's P11. sometimes the KT's need a bit of smithing to be reliable, but that's true of most handguns these days, especially 1911's
