If everybody wants to make it monthly that's fine with me. Remember part of this was to award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize. If we do it monthly, that's quite a few commitments of donations of prizes. Maybe to reward of knowing that you won, and then prizes for the annual award?

It is your "Baby" I think you should do what every you want to do. And it can be changed or tweaked at a later date. All I know is that I am having a sardine sandwich for lunch in one hour.

OK - here's how we'll do it. Nominations are not open yet. When they do open (around the first week of January) it will be in a separate thread. If you want to nominate somebody (or multiple people) you must include their name, and a link(s) to the threads they started that you want others to consider when voting. If you do not provide the links to threads that are in the consideration period, they will not be included. The period that you should look at for making your nominations is from October 1st through December 31st. Voting will be done by a separate poll. If there are too many names to have a poll, we'll do it via PM. We've had committments for three prizes, so that's what we'll do. After the initial period, and if it goes well, we'll make it a monthly thing. There may not be prizes after the initial go around. It shouldn't be about the prizes, but rather getting your boots out in the field. Maybe the Mods can get together and unstick some of the BS (numpty thread, et al) and make some of the winners threads a sticky.

But, the rules have been posted and the effort really seems from rwc1969. Crash deserves an honorable mention for his great videos. But, I think rwc1969 has put the most effort and while I hope for a little shorter videos in the future. He has done great and definitely progressed. Keeping the path he is on he will be with YCC, Crash, Mac and the rest of our best here shortly.
Thanks Batch, I'll try! You should see how long they are before I edit them, LOL!

note to self: stay on topic and quit rambling! focus, focus, focus.

BTW, I didn't post mine for the contest, just to share is all. It was a matter of timing.

I was going to nominate Crash for the Brandy creek, or AS for the shelter.

although, there have been a few other good ones recently too. I'd have a hard time picking just one really.

When nominations are opened up, you can nominate as many folks as you want. I don't think anybody has been posting videos, pictures or experiences for a contest, but rather to share their experiences. Hopefully the contest will encourage a few more people to get outdoors and experience some of the fun.

Same here for those I nominated.. Would I pick AS' BOV threads, or the shelter thread, or the pack threads, or ... And same goes for the others I nominated, like RWC. I really enjoy pretty much all of the threads, find them informative and encouraging, and I don't know that I could pick just one thread for "upholding" that persons nomination.
I will do my best in the future to pick one or two threads for each nomination. I think this is a great idea and agree that the forum AND the members will benefit from this. Personally, I do it because it's just what I do, and since nobody in my real life gives a flip about it, I share with you guys. I don't do it for any award. Passing along what I learn/know is reward for me. Just paying it forward with the hope that new folks, those that can't get out into the "wilderness", or those that are homebound will take up some of these ancient "hobbies" and experience some of the fun. -just what crash said

For some reason there's something terribly wrong about a gator hunter quoting Shylock. It's like trying to balance a meal of Foie gras with mustard seeds and spring onions in duck jus with a side of Spam.

I once had a friend call me an eclectic enigma. I ain't talked to him since.

Also trying to balance a meal like that means you got to put more hot sauce on one side or the other. Habenero sauce is the answer!

Anyone know what the question was?

As long as habanero sauce is the answer, I don't care what the question was.

Aah.. you know what I mean. This is a virtual campfire and we're hundreds of miles apart. I'm talking about the people that surround me on a regular basis. Didn't mean any offence.
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. Helen Keller

No offense taken. I just found it a great opportunity to quote Shakespeare.

    Reference the contest,

Are all posts to be considered for Nomination for the BITF contest going to be placed in one thread for ease of review ?

The reason I ask is because this one by Dogman is certainly worthy of nomination, but I know there are other great posts also worthy, I seen something by Doug and AS also, just to name a couple,, but I have forgotten the names and location of their posts that i would also consider during Voting time,,,

(Not meaning to derail your thread DOGMAN,, Mods, There are a couple different places this post should be,, And I cant find either , Please move this to the proper thread, thanks )

Nope - not moving things. If they move you, take note and provide a link in the nomination thread when it opens.

Kinda lost touch with this thread. I hope this thing is still going.

I nominate RWC for his exceptional videos and learning in this thread http://www.wilderness-survival.net/f...ad.php?t=14116

He might not not be climbing a glacier, but he's darn sure out there doing.

(I hope I put this in the right place!)
