Lots of Mice Now

I went to stores in three states to pick up a box of 380 just in case my Interarms Walther PPK/S appears and couldn't find one lonely box. After checking it's being blamed on all the new CCW issued and if it was good enough for James Bond it's good enough for them. 380s are a big seller everywhere I checked and they ain't cheap. This appears to be a primary handgun for folks new to carrying a hunk of steel. I reckon better a 22 than looking for a rock to throw. I have carried a 380 but feel more comfortable with a S&W J frame in my pocket. Any opinions on this lightweight "new" personal defense weapon?

Below 9mm I have always heard that you have better terminal ballistics with a .32 NAA than a .380. The .32 NAA is a necked down .380 cartridge with a .32 caliber projectile. Because of greater muzzle velocities the .32 JHP is supposed to expand and create a greater wound channel than the .380.

That being said many bad guys are stopped with the .380 round. The guns tend to be affordable and many good people in bad neighborhoods own these guns.

My personal opinion is under 9mm I am going to a wheelgun in .38S with a +P JHP.

Any gun beats no gun, and if the size makes it more likely to carry one more often, I'd say good choice.

I am there with you on that one. I started carrying a S&W model 36, 3 inch HB in an ankle holster in the 1970's as an LEO, as my BUG.

I now have a S&W model 60 3 inch HB factory DOA . Great gun.

I carry a .380.

What I want is a P3AT in .38 Super!

and all of them are way too loud for proper mouse shooting!

My carry in my go everywhere bag is a Walther PPK SS .380, kinda also went along with the good enough for James Bond, good enough for me, school of thought.
Also got a really good deal on a trade for it.
Actually I really kinda like it, good little shooter.

X2 on the S&W 642 airweight .38. I carry mine in a Mika pocket holster and love it! I've found the wrangler cargo shorts from wally world hide the pistol the best while front pocket carry. I also keep an extra 5 rounds of "make em' meet Jesus bullets" in my other front pocket on a Bianchi speed strip.

I am not employed by any companies of the above formentioned products, but I will vouge for their effectiveness and easeability of carrying.

I took the .38 off the nightstand, dropped in a CCI snakeshot load, opened the door and blew the little sucker away.

Had a friend that did the same thing in his camping trailer.
Possum under the bed cabinet, got it thru a hole in the floor.....380 did in the possum, shot a hole in the water heater, thru the wheel well, hole in the tire, camper sorta keeled over till morning.

I have been carrying a P3AT for a year now and love it. I LITERALLY forget that it is there. I carried a G27 before that and It is still my preferred carry gun but the P3AT can go anywhere.

J frames are great, especially the airweights. If you can't find .380 ammo check out Cheaper Than Dirt's website, they have plenty and they ship same day you order, they ain't as cheap as the name implies but they are usually well stocked and their service has alway's been good. I went by their new Mckinney Texas store this week and they had literally over a hundred boxes on the shelf, everything from the cheap $13 a box stuff to the pricey but very good DPX stuff.

I like my Keltec P32, except for the rimlock issue. I am looking at the .380 to help with this.
I prefer something larger, but many times I am unable to hide a larger firearm. A few places I must go I am allowed to carry, but the hassle of being "made" is not worth it.
I know the "comforting" instead of "comfortable" argument (and agree with it), but there are times when even a "J" frame is the pocket is just to easy to spot.
