    Default what do you beleive

having a chat with the wife this morning talking about survival and shtf stuff we come to the topic of the the idea that the world will end dec 21 2012.my wife says she has had a vision for years that she would not live past 42 which is close to the 2012 mark. the thing i love about my wife is she understands being prepared. my ex would say i was paranoid prepared but paranoid not supportive whereas the mrs wants the bunker built and supplies stocked up. so the question was theoreticly how did we see the world ending would it be bird flue, the rapture, nukes, mass extiction? does everyone go at once or is it large amounts dead but still 20 percent survive. wife knows i want to survive out of curiosity, how well would i do in this situation wife wants to be the first to go she hates stress and confrontation, but i gotta know need to test myself and see what happens so....

    what about you

    what do you beleive?

I believe that we are all imaginary and nothing exists. Maybe life is just one big forum, and we are all posts, you know? One day we will awake from this sleep in nothingness only to find out we didn't exist. But if we didn't exist, we wouldn't be able to realize it. Then we would just cease to exist, even though we never existed anyways despite being all just one big forum in nothing. We would fail to be in a forum that doesn't exist, yet that we are members of at the same time.

I think everyone on earth will die....one at a time.....just like we always have. With regard to the 2012 date, if the Mayans were so friggin' smart why didn't they know they would disappear? Or....if they were so smart they blended into the world's population then why aren't they the only ones cashin' in on the lottery? Huh? huh? riddle me that.

I dont know wareagle,it is kind of strange that several ancient people's calender's seem to end at about that same date, these people having no knowledge of each other and their theories and practices to that end.

If its the rapture, and we are left behind,we are in deep snit, not so sure if the preps will help us then.I think we would stand a better chance with the nukes and the bird flu.

They all bought their paper from the same office supply store on sale. Sadly it was a two box limit.

Being serious serious for a moment. So many folks have made so many predictions over the course of several hundred years that some are sure to come true. In addition, IMHO, part of a prophecy is in the eye of the beholder. For example, I can predict a horrible water related disaster will occur in July of this year and somewhere on the planet a flood, mud slide, hurricane, typhoon....you get the picture. Someone can point to that event and say see how smart he was. Just coincidence.

I don't have a crystal ball (no crude remarks) so I don't know what will happen. I can only look at the past and project a similar occurrence in the future.

For what it's worth, I agree. It's a good post. I've seen all those emotions in others and sometimes in myself. I would like to think that I've overcome some of them but I've encountered no true test to know for certain.

true how i perceive myself is not always how i react to situations. i did not put any thought into the y2k "crisis" but for some reason i put more thought into the Mayan scenario. it's the same question of what happens after you die many different thoughts and theories same plagues me about how and if/when the world will end many thoughts and theories.

Great comparison, WE. I didn't worry about y2k and I don't worry about any other event. That doesn't mean I don't try to mitigate the impact of some unforeseen event. I just don't worry about. Even if I knew event X was going to happen and I had no control over it, I still wouldn't worry about it. I only worry about what I can either control or influence.

All I can say about the scuffle is wow! Talk about taking things too personally.

On the topic it never says the world ends at 2012, I believe it says there will be a new beginning. It's the date the Mayan calender resets itself. The way the world is turning nowadays, it will be both the resetting of a calender and, in my belief, the return of Jesus.

In essence, yes. Being that the Mayans of the time are no longer with us, all that we can do is speculate and post conjecture on what it meant. You never know. Heck if you traveled back in time and asked a Mayan what it meant, it's a possibility that they would say, "Make a new calender."

Well, there you go. I'll bet they just ran out of stone and didn't have a Office Depot to order any more. I'll bet that calendar runs to something like 4312.
