What's the best vegetable in your garden? The one that is the easiest to grow from seed and provides the greatest harvest consistently? If you had to survive on only one, what would it be?

curly leaf mustards and collards. Had some for supper tonight with mixed garden peas and fried ham. Rudabagas too! Greens are my favorite!

I let some mustards go to seed in the spring, to take pictures of the flowers, and I have a bunch of "volunteers" growing out there now. Didn't have to plow or sew, they just grew!

Potatos............"Yukon Gold" Potato's & Moose Meat is all a man really needs.

Here in Ohio corn and squash both grow well from seed; many beans as well.

My pick would be tomatoe. There is just nothing better than a fresh tomatoe from the garden (had one for a lunch). You can't by them in the store that taste anything like a fresh garden mater. Easy to grow and generally offer a lot of fruit.

Swiss chard. It's pretty much bomb-proof. Cold, heat, whatever. I keep picking leaves from the same plants, and still they grow, and do not bolt. It is also very nutritious.

Too bad I don't love the flavor.

butternut squash and beets.

Both grow well, both store well, both are superfoods packed in nutrition. So if I had to survive on one, I would pick one of those.

Sweet potatoes also are good, but I might not have the best climate for them, so that is why they're not on the list.

I grow all of the above mentioned except for rutabaga and chard. Corn and tomatoes are what I grow the most of and consequently have the most of in my freezer.

Got to go with SD. Those yukon golds are easy and gooooooooooood. In my case I don't have moose so deer meat or wild hog will have to do.
