Hi Littlewing![]()
Welcome to the boards!
I grew up in Alberta after moving with my parents when I was about 5. Banff is a lovely area but they are very tough on 'camping' there. Lots of wardens and they take their park very seriously. Since it is classified as National park there are a lot more rules than we have out in Ontario (at least that i have seen so far in my 5 years living over here)
Incidentally, I did a very similar thing when I was 16 by hitchhiking out to Ontario from Calgary. It was a rush but I would be very worried about doing it today. Things were a lot different 25 years ago. If you can possibly help it I would recommend against riding with anyone but the truckers as they usually have no time to mess around. Of course I was a pretty cute 16 yr old girl - it may be different for a couple of guys.
Some good advice about the passport and also I don't know how easy it will be to get someone to take you across a border - maybe something to look into. Good Luck with your planning !
