    Default Alcohol allergy????

Any one here have an allergy to alcohol? And if so,what are the symptoms???

I just had 2 beers, and so help me,my sinus and chest feel like they are closing shut on me,I know this feeling will go away,as this has happened the last 3 or 4 times I have had a drink, does not matter the type of alcohol either.

Kind of weird,as I USED to be a regular/heavy drinker, and now only occasionally have a drink or 2 and I am not at all comfortable with the feeling!

I've never experienced it, but I wonder if it is possible that you've developed an alcohol intolerance? http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alc...erance/DS01172

Well crap.I would really hate not being able to have a drink now and then, but so far this has happened with Jose Queervo (,LOL) and beer, guess I need to try a few other types to see if it is an all out ban for me,or just a few I need to avoid!

By the way, this also comes with an accelerated feeling of drunkenness!

I have had 2 beers in the last hour and feel like I have been drinking all day!

When it is allergy season in the spring, I can only drink ice type beers, as any others just stuff me up in a second. It hasn't been bad the past few years. I was thinking that golden rod may be early, as every thing else is, could that be a problem for you along with the beer?

Nell, if you're on any kind of new meds/vitamin supplements it could have something to do with it.
If not, try vodka as a test. It's one of the "cleaner" alcohols.

Not really given to having allergies, the only one I can think of off hand is poison ivy!

However,we all know that one can become allergic to something that has never been a problem before.

By the way,I finished that second beer about half an hour ago,and the whole discomfort thing is practically gone, including the "hyper" feeling of drunkenness, not understanding this at all,as an allergy would not be subsiding on it's own in such a short amount of time.

Will try that on another day, since testing it now could give a skewed result?

Plus,I have never been much for mixing different types of drink on a given night, the only time I did try that,I had the only hangover I have ever had!

Hmmmmm. I mean, well, uh, I think we can come up with something. Mistress of Science. I like that. It's a lot better than Beer Wench of Science.....just sayin'.

I don't drink, can't drink. The stuff makes me sick. It must be a genetic thing. My dad was the same way. I can get away with one or two but beyond that and I'm kickin' the dog out of the way. I don't get drunk...although I've been unsteady on my feet a time or two....I just get ill.

Just remember that no matter where you are, it is always after (insert the time you feel it is socially acceptable to drink here) some place in the world.

Uncontrolable motor mouth. Loudness, lack of common sense, loss of balance and the belief that you can whip Huck Hogan, Chuck Norris, Van Damm and Chuck Liddell one at a time or all at once. And the desire to have everyone believe that Bruce Lee taught you everything he knew and you whipped up on him once.

Sometime causing you to aquire a Coyote ugly companion

Not to worry these symptoms normally pass and are a vague memory the following day.

It could have been the particular type/brand of beer. It could have been something else you ingested. It could have been a combination of things you ingested. I'd say if it was from the beer you wouldn't have been able to start the second one as allergy symptoms start fast, usually.
