Keep scanning the news, does not look like much more than a bit of rain and wind here inland. Not enough to allow for a good panic food purchase. Heck , my wife does not even want me to stock up on milk and bread!!!!!!!!

But we are adequately supplied with "big boy soda" for the construction project

Hey Ken. That's an impressive list but I don't see water on it anywhere.

I'm sure you just forgot to add that though.

Don't forget to fill the bathtub.

I told him to get milk, bread and water. Of course, he could run by Pal's house. I would imagine he's giving stuff away about now.

It looks like I am safe from Earl! We are likely to get a few inches of rain out of the storm but the wind will stay farther to the east. The coast will still have to deal with the wind but my plans for the weekend should be fine. Be safe, the rest of you still in the path!

Now, through the next few hours, are the worst for my area....and it ain't bad. The rain isn't very heavy, and the winds are about 25-35. Thunderstorms put up more of a fuss.

At the beach, they are having 60-70 mph winds. The 105 mph stuff is staying off shore. Good news, for sure.

Hopefully, brushing land like this will weaken the storm even more, so it's not so bad for you guys up north, that are going to get hit.

It's dead calm up here at the moment. The air is so heavy you can almost feel it's weight. Very warm and humid. Overcast sky with, I'd guess, 6 miles of visibility. And the crickets are going nuts, chirping as loud as I can remember.

Yeah, something's coming this way. The only question is, how close and how strong. We'll soon see.

Stay safe people, and if that's not an option, consider staying drunk... lol. I'll be watching the show on telly..
Survival is not about surviving AGAINST the nature. It's about surviving WITH the nature.

You can't go in to nature, nature is not a place or an object. Nature just is. You are living it.

Does banning alcohol have an affect on the direction hurricanes take? If it's people related them they need to consider that alcohol is lighter than water. Drunk people should float, which should save them!

In Mass, 1 mile from a large deep-water bay, and 200 feet from a 1,500 foot wide river leading to that bay. House is about 30 feet above sea level.

In R.I., about 2 miles from the ocean, a river just over a mile to the east, and a large deep-water bay about 3 miles to the west. House is 175 feet above sea level.

In the 1954 Hurricane, a 300' ship broke it's lines and ended up across the road and 150' in from the bank of the river about 1/4 of a mile from my house in Mass.
