    Default My Personal Wilderness

I have my own wilderness. It's where our lawn ends and our 3 acre jungle of tangled trees, bushes, and vines begins. I spent an hour hacking my way around yesterday, and decided that I'm gonna' cut some paths and clearings and create my own little oasis.

This project may take the rest of my life to finish.

Here are a few shots of the tamed part of the back yard.

And I've gotta' get rid of some broken concrete the last owner piled up and left behind.

And this is a tiny glimpse of the area I have to clean up.

See these vines? The place is loaded with them in several spots. If anybody wants to get some machete practice, just give me a call.

Oh yeah. We've got this dilapidated old shed waaaaay out back. I figure that 2 dumpsters oughta' be enough to haul this away.

That's all for now. I'll post some "work in progress" and "after" pics next year, if I'm still alive.

I will bring the cooler with beer. I hate sitting watching a man work, it always makes me thirsty

    A couple points...

First- in the 4th from the last picture, there is one of those ghost/orb thingies.

Second- The "wilderness" and the shed could be very usefull.

    Third- Jamboree at Kens house!!!

Looks like you'll be saving on gym fees. And it's more fun too.

I'd fix the shed up instead of tearing it down, unless it has problems the pictures don't show it still looks sturdy enough to be a chicken coop and rabbit hutch, tool and equipment shed, etc.

First - There are TWO of them. (There's a smaller one above and to the right of the larger one.) I think they're UFOs. Where's Sarge?

Second - The "wilderness" yes - the shed no.

Third - A true friend would be packing up his machete and heading up here at this very moment. Bring your earth-movers with you, 2dumb.

The two story part of the shed looks to have a chimney. I'm thinking woodstove=mancave in the winter. The short part of the shed, makes me think "greenhouse".

Archer, it was a chicken coop, and a barn for two cows, and a greenhouse, and a potting shed, and a hayloft, and a storage shed. That was before two-thirds of it collapsed. I didn't take pictures of that part.

It was kinda' cool in its day. Electricity, oil-fired heating system, hot and cold running water. Would'a made a great "man cave."

I was thinking about when it cools off. We'll have a get together at your place, camp out....have a bon-fire....cook outside.....eat and drink.....tell some stories....eat and drink....cut some vines....eat and drink. Did I mention that we could eat and drink?

Three great vineyards and a micro-brewery close by. And plenty of cattle and pigs and chickens around as well...........

Dang.....is there a woodstove, that we can salvage for the new "fort"?

You see....that's how you get some help to show up. You tell your friend "Hey guys, lets build a fort!"

Oh man....everybody shows up, when somebody cooks a whole pig. Add some cold beer, and you're set!

BTW....a vinegar based, Eastern N.C. sauce would be good.

REAL old woodstove. Rusted through and through. It's been hanging outside the shed for years. You want pics of it?

    But I've got two firepits.........

For an endeavor such as this, I think a second or possibly even a third cooler would be in order. As a self appointed "straw boss" I would be certain not to run out

Funny you should say that. After I brought a truck-load of some of my "things" there, my Honey asked me, "What is this, a fort?"

Any idea of how hard it would be to put a collar and a leash on a pig and walk it about a mile down the road?
