I have a c.b. in my sports car and my suburban.
I use the one in my car to get traffic reports. (accidents on the other side of the mountain, po-po, etc). I need it because my car likes to stay between 80-120 mph.
On the other hand, the one in my Suburban can be very useful driving across the mountains and rough terrain. It also has several NOAA channels so I can get a heads up on the weather if I'm out in the bush with my truck.
I had thought about a hand crank generator of some sort to make my c.b. portable. Maybe even an old car alternater w/ a hand crank.

Ya'll are kidding, right? Your Windows or Mac keyboard can type in Spanish. The parts are made in Mexico for cryin' out loud. The hard part was teaching them English.

Yes, my husband has a cb radio in his truck, and we would use it to get help in a heart beat.
cabingirl

cabingirl
kool cabingirl what kind of radio dose he have
CB radios probably are the best and least expensive radio to contact someone for help. Every commercial trucker has one, and with the extensive highway system in this country you have a great chance in contacting a driver in your area. No license is required, you can purchase a mobile unit or a handheld one. Cell phones have replace radios to some extent but are not always reliable. The good old CB has faded from the urban seen but is still very popular in the rural areas.
