I am a Christian. I go to church every week. In fact my church asked me to be the scoutmaster, so that is where I serve right now. You can probably guess which Christian church I go to by the state I live in.

It was unintended - but it is true. I am reminded of the line form a song: "I'd rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today."

a bit off topic here, but I'm surprised there aren't more Mormons among us. They are strong in scouts and preparedness.

Well, this forum is titled "Wilderness Survival". So, the preparedness people generally aren't looking here.

They do, but that doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same as we do.

Don't know really how to say it or type it out, so bear with me. Raised pentecostal and whole-heartedly believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I have spoke in tongues and felt the presence of the Lord. I believe in his word, the Bible.

But I have become complacent in my growth as a Christian and have become stale, even backslid some. It started with a new job and being unable to attend church every Sunday. By doing so I was ridiculed and people talked behind my back about me being unable to attend. These people I considered friends, but now not so much. I attend my church when I can, but am not greeted like I used to.

I no longer read my Bible like I should, but I have been thinking a great deal about it. I think it's due to just being married and wanting to strengthen our household spiritually.

It's not that I doubt God, it's that I doubt myself. It's kind of hard to explain.

Shoot, I guess that was my confession. Next time I will be more to the point and just say, "Yes I am a Christian, but have backslid in my walk with the Lord."

I thought you said it pretty well. Just remember that those that matter understand. And those that don't understand don't matter.

Wow, you phrase that as if there was hope for me. Careful buddy, I've had with these false hope inspiring riddle speaking prophet types.

The elders love my family. My sister has them follow her around the country. When you get sent to a "Batch" area, you look up the Batch family. That's a Mormon rule!

My sister did after almost two decades of having elders do handy work around the house, convert to The Church of Latter Day Saints.

Always had great kids come around.
