Thread: ID Wristband

  1. #1

    Default ID Wristband

There are a view things I don't know. For example, I don't know if I post this in the right forum and I don't know what the rule is on posting a link of a munufacturer.

Since the manufacturer is not mine and I do not endorse it for some sort of compensation, other than the knowledge of contributing to the survival of others, I post it here anyway.

There is a cheap wrist - or ankleband with all your personal emergency info engraved on it. You can put your contacts and your emergency phone numbers on it. If you don't like doing that, you can provide a 1.800 number and a link to a website with all your info.

It was (is) designed for cyclist, but I don't see why it couldn't be used by everybody. I have one and I think it is great and better than a neckless that is in the way half of the time and can do some harm to body parts also if you're not careful.

I endorse anything that will convey information, especially medical information, when you can not. Good Post.

Here is one you can make and print for free for your wallet. I carry one on me along with a set of dog tags.

I didn't want to start another thread just in case this has been discussed before, but thought I would throw it out there since rudyumans brings up a good topic.

Along these lines I highly recommend putting a contact titled ICE or I.C.E. in your phone. ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. In the event you are unable to communicate with the authorities or medical personnel they could possibly see this and call your contact.

I agree, but some do not have a "Home" line; for instance, everyone in my wife's family and mine all have cell phones. Not only this, but ICE can have multiple numbers in there when usually home only has the main line for where your house is.

=) Just a bit of helpful information.

I concur, Rick. Anything to improve your chances of survival. I think I've mentioned in the past I have a "MEDICALERT" Bracelet.

First Responders (at least around here) have been trained to look for ICE in an unresponsive victims cell phone.

My cell phone had a built in ICE. When you go to contacts a red cross is displayed next to the words In Case of Emergency. I have three contacts plugged in along with my information along with allergies. It's the first contact on the list.

I never looked for a built in ICE I always made my own. That's pretty neat of the phone makers.

Although I agree that anything available is good to have and cell phones are definitely a great help, I do think that in emergency situations an old fashion non electronic device works best. There is a lot that can go wrong with cell phones. They can get wet, batteries die, they get smashed if you fall or slide down the mountain (hope not). With this wristband, or something similar, you know it is still there and it still works. There is a lot of information you can have engraved on the metal plate that is immediately available to the rescue people.

I agree with you Rudy, but I think the whole point of ICE was that cell phones were so prevalent in society that it didn't take much to to get people to participate.

Having something non-mechanical and your cell phone would be redundant. Oooh. Pefect!

Ha!! I just read an article last night that two cops stopped a guy on a warrant and asked him if his name was Roberts (or whatever it was). Of course, he said no. The fact that his name was tattooed on his head sort of gave him away. It was one of those dumbest criminal articles.
