How much time is left on her enlistment?

She extended to come up here so I believe it is in July 2011, so 13 months.

It's like buying a home. You know what you are signing. So, be responsible and do what you signed on for. Sorry.

If she goes Chase doesn't that double her commitment? I know she'll be in reserves and she can probably get in a unit here in Indiana but wouldn't she be looking at 26 months?

You may not like too hear this but i feel that she agreed to extend and should live up to that agreement.

That is the norm and that would be ok. It's not like she wants to skate out of her commitment but our lives have changed and it's either she gets out or gets kicked out.

I guess your other option would be to talk to Separations and see if the Air Force is offering any special programs. You service is over objective on recruitments isn't it? They might be offering something.

No. Just trying to understand. I'm not getting the full picture. There is some omitted info.

Doug - What's the Air Force designation? AFSC? Can she change AFSC if that's the problem?

Doug - I've got pretty strong feelings about military folks that voluntarily enlist (and then extend to get something they want) honoring their commitment. Probably not what you're looking to hear, but the Air Force held up their end of the bargain.

It's a long story mostly the new mom thing. Just looking at options to see what's possible and whats not. Most likely she will finish strong like we both want her to. It's just a lot of BS that is not needed and not her fault. Thanks for the info and the understanding.

Doug - She may well be going through some postpartum depression. It's pretty common. Have her talk to her OB. If this just came up after the baby then that may be what you're looking at.

Yeah maybe. I don't know in three days she has been chewed out 3 times and given paperwork. She got paperwork for misplacing her ID on her first day back. She got paperwork for not being able to come in at 0600 on her second day because the only babysitter we have opens at 0700. And today she got paperwork because she had to pick the baby up from the babysitter instead of doing PT, which she did 10 minutes later. The Military is full of paperwork happy morons who have no idea how to supervise these days. And I have the pleasure of seeing it every single day and it pains me. She was Airman of the Year and got Airman Below the Zone but here she is view as a dirt bag Airman for no reason.

And you think civilian life would be any better?

I have a friend that was "written up" for rolling her eyes while a supervisor was talking to her group. This is a 57 year old nurse with 35 years on the job. Another friend lost a $15,000 bonus for being late twice in one year. My wife was once charged $50 for a new ID as a fine for losing hers.

My two stepsons reciently exited the Marine Corps. It has been the most tramatic experience in their lives! After two tours in Iraq and attaining Sgt rank they are now just the new guy, making 1/3 what they were a year ago, and lucky to have a job at all.

If she is late or has no ID she's going to get repremended. That is life in or out of the service.
