I picked up an iPhone the other day and so far, I'm impressed. In addition to being a phone, I can email and go on-line. I downloaded a couple of applications. Scanner, FOX news, Weather and GPS. With scanner I can listen to police, fire, aviation, etc. The GPS works great, it has a compass, track, speed, waypoints, etc.

I could see this being a good short term survival tool.

My iPhone is loaded with apps. I would say only about 1/3 are useful though.

If you haven't take a look at the NaturalCures app, you may like it.

You're right about the usefulness of some apps. I was looking at the natural cures app. Thanks, I could see where that could be helpful.

Rebel you may want to check out these apps also. Use the app store search, look up Pandoria ( it's free internet radio)

You can also get the u.s. army survival manual

Radsat is a weather app that show up to the minute satalite and radar weather.

The waether channel app is also great.

There is also a app called mapquest, it's a paid service but is well worth the cost for directions it even gives you audio instructions.

There are lots of cool apps. Check out the random app finder as well if you just want to mess around it will show you several randomly located apps at a time I found several cool apps there.

I,ve had my iphone for over a year and can't see going back to a regular cell phone. ( I even used mine at jamboree to check on what was going on on this forum while we were gone).

Ten? It was obsolete when he bought it. There are probably two new versions in R&D.
