I've been looking at buying a .22 rifle for awhile now but couldn't seem to decide which one. I like the Ruger 10/22 but then I seen this.

Cool looking, but I think if was me I would just pick up a real AR, then add the .22lr conversion, or for that matter a .22lr upper.
Best of both worlds?

I don't have one but I'd be hard pressed to spend that kind of money for a 22 rimfire when a 10/22 is half the price.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

If you simply must have the AR platform do as hunter suggests and add the .22 conversion upper to the standard AR and double your usability, if you want to call it that.

Not to be critical, or picking a fight, or saying the AR/AK are not for all occasions but:::

If I am sitting behind the sandbags looking out the window of my place, scanning the strangers comming across my ridge through my 32x scope, guess which ones I am paying special attention too? That old varmit rifle has a 5oz trigger, please don't make me nervous. You might be a nice guy, for all I know.

You'll have a much better welcome walking up the road with a Ruger or Marlin 60 slung on your shoulder.

Just remember that when I'm on that ridgeline with my Oberwerk 25/40X100 binoculars and my Javelin shoulder fire missle.......please don't make me nervous.

Well I would love a .223 AR but at $1k + I can't afford it. If I get this than I get the .22 I need with the look of an AR which is what I want. Seems like a win win to me. Plus I was able to find one for $462 locally. The wife said I should get it so I'll let you all know how well it shoots. :-)

I don't know where you are, but it is the wrong spot.

ARs are selling for about half that locally. My son just bought an M4 w/optics for less than $700.

For 1k you can get the AR and the .22 conversion unit and extra mags and a case of ammo!

And PLEASE, never reveal that you have to ask the wife!!! It just don't sound right. Even if you do, you never own up to it!

It's the code.

Currently I'm in Alaska and I have not found a single AR for less than $1k here. Next year I'll be back in Southern Indiana but if my memory is correct AR's weren't much cheaper there. $800 + plus the price of ammo I just can't justify it right now.

I have and shoot a AR 15 Carbine. I purchased a Cliner .22 conversion kit for it. Accuracy is great. They are advertised in SGN and CDNN has another verision. Either one is under $200.00

The conversion kit with the plastic box and a 30 rd mag weights just under 1 1/2 lbs.

It is kept in my BOB when I am not using it. IMHO there is no reason to carry two guns when one will do it.

But if you just want another toy, reasoning has nothing to do with it.

I agree get the AR and the .22 conversion I bought the stag arms M4 in 5.56 and the bought the .22 bolt conversion kit. All you do to change is pull the back upper pin hinge open the upper pull the 5.56 bolt insert the .22 bolt reinsert pin change mags and your ready. Takes less than a minute, bolt conversion is around $100.00 and is pretty accurate.

Unless you just want a black gun(AR) I'd say purchase the 10/22,or a marlin,both great dependable guns,cheaper than smiths' ar clone.Lets face it,all your buying is the name and the look,and a whole lot more things can go wrong with that gun than will ever a 10/22.Jus my opinion ok
