Also fits into a 2# metal coffee can as a nesting cookset.

Do we have a tutorial on fixing those things? I have two that will not work.
If you didn't bring jerky what did I just eat?

Rick's the man you need to speak to about all things stoves and lanterns. He has quite a collection.

You are absolutely right about rick being the coleman collector, must send him a message later.

preheats and helps vaporize the fuel. There is a burnable ribbon paste for spreading over the tube and preheating it in very cold weather, that I have used a couple of times that works well. attached is a link to parts for every thing Coleman

Yep - it's the generator. In extreme cold use a flamable paste on it to heat the fuel until the burner can do the job.

Justin - The "tube" that sit's on top is the "generator". As Tippicanoe said, it converts the fuel from a liquid to a gas so it can burn. All gasoline/white gas stoves and lanterns use a generator. There is a super tiny hole at the end of the generator. Literally about the diameter of a human hair. When you pressurize the tank the fuel is forced through the generator where it is heated and converted to a gas then out through the orifice. Kerosene stoves use a similar process but the orifice is a different size. You can't burn gas through a kerosene generator or vice versa. However, you can convert stoves from one to the other by changing the generator.

All white gas stoves are also unleaded gasoline stoves. White gas is just gasoline that has been further refined and does not contain the additives. Unleaded gasoline will clog the orifice (because of the additives) after a while but it can be burned.

Welderguy - You can pick up pump assemblies at Walmart for a couple of bucks. I haven't found any that don't fit...yet. The site that Tippacanoe posted is excellent. I've ordered from Robert in the past. He isn't too great on communication but he has loads of parts and some pretty good prices.

    Here's another good site.

    http://terrence.marsh.faculty.noctrl...spost1945.html

for Coleman stoves post 1945. The menu is at the bottom of the page.

You made a great score on those two. I have the stove and lantern and you can get them going for a song. Check the air tube on the lantern. I'll give you 50/50 odds there is a spider nest inside blocking the air flow. If there is, you'll get a flare up when you light it because all you will get is raw fuel and no air mixture. Good sign the air tube is blocked. If so, just take some stranded automotive wire, strip about a half inch of insulation off, bend the wires backward and insert it into the air tube. It will clean the cobwebs out.

Dump any fuel that is in the tank, inspect it for rust. If you find some just dump in some BBs and some clean fuel and shake the carp out of it. The BBs will clean the tank right up.

About the worst thing I've run into is varnish on the uptake tube inside the tank. It was from old gasoline being left in the tank. I tore it apart and let it soak in carburetor cleaner for a couple of days and it was fine.

The lantern will have a model number on the silver collar between the globe and the tank. There should also be a date on the bottom of the tank (month and year).

NEVER leave fuel in the tank if you are going to store it for any length of time. Not only will varnish get on the parts, the fuel will cause the tank to rust. Empty them and let them air out for a day or two before storing. Even the ones I have for emergency use at home are stored empty.

If you have any questions, just PM me. I'll be glad to help. OR.....if they look like they may be too much trouble just send them to me and I'll get rid of them for you.

Randy, be careful if that lantern does have isinglass. I've seen several of them around but replacements are few and far between and pretty expensive. They don't make mica globes anymore. At least I haven't found any. You can pick them up, occasionally, on ebay. Or you can try

    http://oldtownyucca.websitetoolbox.com/

which I failed to post earlier. Another good source for parts. I think if I had one I'd clean it up and display it. But that's just me.

Welder - Yes, October 1953. It's probably a 220 or 228 series. 220D or 228D. They look similar. Or 228E. I can't really tell the color of the control knob from the picture. If it's brown then it's probably a D series. If it is black then probably a 228E. I'm just guessing here. Look on the collar, it should be stamped.
