Dang....I was all ready for a debate about self responsibility.

It would even hold up to the "driving a car" argument. You are responsible for maintaining control of your vehicle. If you fail to do so, you are responsible for the consiquences....therefore it doesn't matter if you were texting, playing with the radio, putting on make-up or looking at the girl in that other car. There is no need for laws about those other things, when you have the first law.

And if you don't buckle them up and you're in a wreck then you did endanger someone else.
I just knew you were going to bring up the "little ones" thing! I guess I dont have a great answer that wont make me sound like an unfit parent. My kids are always buckled, so am I and if I am responsible for a person under the age of adulthood than it should be my responsibility to make sure they are as safe as I can make them.

If I fly through your windshield because you crossed the center line while texting, you deserve a visit from my carcass!!

So noted. By the way, I don't text. If I can figure out how to get a full sized keyboard mounted on my dash, then I'll text.

Seriously, is it just me or is it a whole lot faster to say "Hello" than to type it? And what's up with all the shorthand for texting. Now I have to be distracted not only to read what you sent me but I have to be distracted trying to decipher it. Just call will ya?

It's rare that I wear a seatbelt. I hate the way that it ends up rubbing on my neck. It actually distracts me, to the point that I'm messing with the seatbelt, instead of paying attention to the things that I should be paying attention to.

I will agree that this makes no sense, especially considering how safety conscious I am, about other things. I also make sure that I am strapped in very tightly, in a race-car. Go figure.

Rather than tempt fate, why not put a six point harness in your passenger vehicle?

The majority of traffic fatalities are partial or full ejection. A seat belt will keep you in the vehicle and in front of the airbag.

I find it hard to believe there are people who carry kits on their person daily and who don't wear a seatbelt.

Ya see??? I told y'all about looking at the girl, in another car.

Oh, wait......you said ejection. Never mind.

All joking aside, I'm not trying to defend my actions. I know it's stupid. That's what's so bad, about it. I know better.

Well, I don't like the "nanny society" either, but as a guy that's thinks for himself (I hope), I will still wear a seat belt, just because I feel good about wearing it, and for my own selfish, self preservation, Gov-ment or no........

6 point harness might even be a good idea, as well as helmet, ROP and booger bars, just to protect myself from all the idiots that forgot how to talk on the phone, or think that just because you don't answer, your being as a$$..............

My ride is a GMC 5500 Crew cab 4X4 TRACTOR. In a head-on event, Most of most vehicles scoot right under the axles. And yes, I wear a seatbelt.

I've never seen either of those on TV over here. There are some other pretty graphic PSAs. I think perhaps those were made for Cinemas.
