Default What Are Your Favorite Sites?

I like to read a variety of information with differing views and ideas as I form my own opinions about things. I am really interested in knowing more sites, and with the breadth of experience and interests of the people here, thought it would be a good place to ask.

This thread is not meant to solicit political or religious views (or personal opinions) but it would be great if people would post their favorites w/o too many comments that would put the thread in jeopardy.

What are your favorite sites for things like (but not limited to):
    * Mainstream news (I.e.: CNN, FoxNews, BBC, etc.)
    * Alernative news (I.e.: Info wars, CuttingEdge News, WND, OneNewsNow, etc.)
    * Outdoor information (hiking, camping, fishing, etc.)
    * Skill/Hobby sites (knife making, gardening, herbs, natural remedies, sewing, etc.)

If you have too many and not enough time to share them all...then what are the ones you go to if you have 20 minutes to catch up on your favorite topics.

As I was deciding if I wanted to post this, I got to thinking that maybe others will find some new sources of info for their hobbies, news, etc. as well.

    Thanks!

I read at least 10 newspapers (5 local and 5 national) on-line, and 2 in print, every morning. I watch FOX news and CNN everyday. I don't just sit and watch - I have a TV in every room of the house, including one in my shower. The only cable channel numbers I have memorized are the local news stations and FOX, CNN, and the Food Channel.

For some bits of national/international coverage of local events, I like to read the local take on things.

    I go here: http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/usstate/usatable.htm

    or here: http://www.onlinenewspapers.com/

I also visit ALL Boston and Providence television stations on-line everyday.

Most of my news come from the internet and mainstream media (FOX, CNN, WSJ, etc.) If I see a story that I question or one that appeals to me then I research it. If I find one that I am strongly in favor of or strongly oppose then I research it to find the other side of the story in an effort to gain some balance in my own thinking and to learn what others thoughts are.

Here is what I use as my homepage: http://www.goodsearch.com/

There are a number of 501(c)3 charities registered with them. You choose which one you want to support, and every search you make goes towards them making money.

The downside to it is that it does not return results as thorough as Google. Sometimes I start on Goodsearch, then move to Google if I don't find what I am looking for. At least I know I am helping an organization I believe in!

Everything I NEED to know my geese will tell me in the dark of night or mid day, they let me know if a grizzly or a wolf is in the yard. All other information is just talking heads.

Well one site that I have learned a LOT of information about making knives is this one: http://knifedogs.com/index.php

There are a lot of makers there, both Veteran Makers and Newbie's like myself. There are Lots of Tutorials and more stuff being done all the time. This is the Forum that is getting me in as an "Exhibitor" at the Blade show 2010. It is "G rated", the only "Politics" are about knife organizations that protect knife rights like Kniferights.Org and AKTI.Org . It is made up of Collectors, Makers, and vendors of knife related stuff, as well as representatives of both Knife rights organizations.

I spend a Lot of time there trying to learn this new skill. I have already learned a lot of stuff from this site. Mostly from WIP's (Works in progress), Tutorials, and "Shop tours". Everyone, is treated well there. It is the only Knife site I go to anymore.

Actually I am quite "Nomadic" on the internet. I visit lots of different sites. I have had as many as 24 tabs open at once in one window, bouncing around from one to the other. Some are Horse related and other interests as well.

I read this one daily: http://survivalblog.com/
Useful stuff even though a lot of it is not doable for me. But it's nice to know just in case.

Aside from various USA news sources I like to swing by http://news.bbc.co.uk/ just so I get another POV.

No, I don't think so. I have even tried the same with JUST this site opened. It had something to do with my original account. Poco 2 didn't have the problem until 1 &2 were merged. Since I have abandoned that account I don't have any problems. Somehow beyond my understanding, that account was "Infected" or something. It is WAY beyond my comprehension. I tried everything I could think of. I have 23 tabs open right now but no problem.
