Default Census taker at your door?? Ask for I.D.

So for those who didn't fill out their census forms and return them on time, expect a knock on your door anytime.

However,DO NOT open the door for anyone claiming to be from the census without seeing their I.D.
Here are 2 good reasons why you shouldn't,and the Pekin one happened just a few miles from where I live.

Thanks for the heads up. Something like that is easy to take for granted in a small town like this. It's always good to be aware of wooly wolves.

The guy that came to my door the other day showed his i.d. right away...before I got a chance to ask for it. I didnt have to answer any questions I didnt want to (he was okay with that) and the whole visit lasted less than 5 minutes. I would say that if they dont show i.d. right away (based on the guy) then something might be up.

It's always good to be aware of your surroundings, especially when strangers are at your door. Thanks for the reminder Nell.

Thanks for the reminder, it's far too easy to get complacent about "officials" knocking at the door and getting scammed(or worse)

If you sent a completely filled out form, do they come to your home?

No official news link yet, but rumor has it (there are advantages to living in a small town) that someone tried to do this very same thing last week down at the lake (there are also disadvantages to living in a small town).
The little old lady was smart to answer her door with a shotgun, and the supposed Census taker was thwarted.
I have made my whole family aware of this situation.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BRINGING THIS TO OUR ATTENTION!! You may have saved many lives with a simple post!!

I must express my frustration with the Rep system once again. I tried to give you some rep Mrs. Nell, but it won't allow me to
The thanks of myself and my family will have to suffice.
    Thank you!!

    And then there is this,

    snip,

Tampa, Florida-- A 65-year old Tampa man is facing an aggravated battery charge, accused of attacking a US Census worker with a pickaxe.

A lady in one of my computer classes is working for the census. She said they've implemented a new policy of " no refusals". So, if they come knocking and you refuse what do they do? Shoot you? Twist your arm?

There has been some debate over whether some of the questions they ask are Constitutional or not. Some people are refusing to answer ALL of the questions. Yes, the Constitution allows for everyone to be "Counted". But some of the questions are "Questionable" (Pun not intended) according to some.

The lady that came for our Census was met down at the Barn. I know she was more scared than we were. I asked her if anyone had challenged her on the "Constitutionality" of some of the questions. She started getting a little huffy with me. If she hadn't been a neighbor(Sorta') I would have told her to take a hike. I don't have to take that kind of behavior from anyone. Especially since I just asked a simple question. We cooperated fully with her questions, but the same could NOT be said for her. I think in 2020 I will give them a real hard time. After all the Geneva Convention only requires Name, Rank, and Serial #. Anything else I will tell them None of your business. You have counted me now leave. Oh No Orange Vest , but she did have the ID. I'm not happy with the treatment I received. I won't be nice next time. Hope it is better for everyone else!!

You'll be in the home next time and someone will be changing your diapers. And don't give them a hard time either. I'll need mine changed too.

The census people used a dirty trick, on me today. The one that showed up at my house today had a badge, and she was friendly, nice looking, had a pretty smile,..........and a smokin' hot body! I was tellin' her stuff, that she hadn't even asked for, trying to keep her there longer.

Thanks Nell for bringing this up, you can never be too careful.

Had a Census taker(?), show up at the door of "The Place" our cabin.
I had to shush the dogs, and keep pushing them back inside as I walked out on the pourch to talk to her.
It took while to make her understand that we are "seasonal", that we didn't live there full time........"How may people live here"?.....A lot of the time....none, so what difference does it make?
    Seemed odd......?

Might wanna see if a neighbor would swing by every so often and check on the place. Almost sounds like they were scoping out the place for a later date..
Can't help but be suspicious these days.

Thanks for the reminder, I do have the neioghbor lady walk through pretty often, on her "Walks", but still I though of that when she showed up.

Had the I.D., just a little cutie, young.........And I had thought that she had to have some guts to stop at all the fairly remote cabins and "homesteads" around, by herself.
