    Default Took a trip

I took a trip, up to my parents place, the other day. I actually remembered to take a picture of these lanterns, to show crash. (And everybody else.)

I thought they were RxR lanterns, but my dad said that these came off of saw-horse type signs, used to block off roads, etc.

(Please forgive the bad pictures. I just got my first digi-cam, and I'm learning.)

Those lanterns look great! I like the manually operated fire hydrant too.

I was afraid to ask him, where the Rolls Royce hubcap came from, that's hanging on the side of one of the tobacco barns. LOL

Maybe he uses it as a necklace when he goes out clubbing.

I thought that belonged to Robert Rogers.

Do those lanterns have a name on them?

I just watched that. I knew how to cook before I got married. She didn't.

I was wondering if those were Handlan Utility lanterns? When I was a kid, they used the Handlan torches in road construction instead of the lanterns. They were black but similar to this:

We used to swipe those from the construction projects to light our forts as kids.

In other news, there was a 10 car pile up at a local construction site..........

I should add - they quickly smoked us out of the wilderness retreats that we would build.

We always called them smudge pots when we were kids for that very reason. They smoked something awful...and stunk, too.

Yep. Never found one that looked as good as the pic. I think that five minutes after you light one you'll end up with about a 1/2 inch of soot on them.

I remember as a young fellow, with a brand spanking new Drivers license getting a summer job going around to road construction/repair sites evenings, weekends and holidays filling these buggers and replacing the stolen ones. Was a good job, I got about $2.50 per hour!!! Thought I was on top of the world with that kind of cash

Heck no!!!! That stuff is kinda like my private stash!

Along with the tools hanging in the tobacco barn. (Draw knife, slingblade, etc.) Not to mention the tobacco barns, them selves. (Log cabin kinda stuff.) The cross logs, that the tobacco hung on, are still there, and solid.

Then there are the car parts. New, in the box, finned alum. valve covers for a '56 corvette......and an intake and carbs for the same. (2x4bbl set-up)
