Snopes is THE site that will tell you if those emails you get from Auntie Nina are urban legend. Read below the "email copy" at the link you posted.
It's all racist garbage.
A clear case of "WE don't know what those little symbols mean, so it must be a conspiracy." All the more reason everyone should work in a grocery store for at least 3 months. You learn what those symbols mean real quick, as well as what never to buy in a grocery store.
I used to like reading Snopes during lunch. It's a hoot while debunking all those chain email letters you get. Or once in a while they point to the specs of truth in them while showing you the yarn.
