Honestly though, have you ever visited some of the other forums? Those guys must shoot up testosterone 3 times a day. Everbody tries to sound tougher, everyone is meaner, everyone has the biggest pair. IMHO, everyone of them has a stick up their @ss. I like it here. Most of us don't feel like we have anything to prove.

Maybe when a thread is talking about the forum or some sort of off-topic discussion more folks feel like they are able to participate. Isn't it human nature to want to belong? I know that when topics like wild edibles are being discussed - while I'm slowly learning - I don't really have that much to contribute. The same could hold true for many members that want to learn and be part of the "group" but might feel uncomfortable participating until they learn more. When I came to this forum I had never made a knife. Now I'm pretty comfortable talking about knife making. A lot of the technical aspects - I'm still learning. So when a thread comes along that is easy to participate in or have an opinion on .... more members might join in. Just a thought.

It is a way to socialize. Get comfortable with the "characters" on this forum. I think it gets people more comfortable to ask questions and contribute. Remember, that all have not necessarily had the opportunity to engage in "verbal volley bal"
