    Hello and Welcome!!

Alaska That's in the US right?(Just kidding AS, Sourdough who is in Alaska, does this to everyone in the lower 49*. I have been WAITING for someone from Alaska to join the Forum)

    * Technically all the other 49 states are Lower(further south) than Alaska. I never could understand why it was always referred to as the "Lower 48". Just because Hawaii is not attached?

In my intro I mentioned I currently live on a road. It is a little over a mile long with 5 other families on it. This is the view from the end of my driveway and there is no development on my side of the road so the woods seen at end of road extends to within ten feet of my back door. No houses, no roads, afew logging trails but then nothing. Going the other direction the road leads to a highway I take to work.

Not really sure why. It might be because Alaska is the 49th state and the say got started before Hawaii was a state. Just a guess.

That is my neighbor, he has horses and mules. The whole area is a small farming community. It fits all the criteria for a "Life boat community".

Tom Williams was one of my lawyers when I lived in "Buzzard Gulch" aka Eagle River, Alaska. I spent about SIX years in court with FDIC. Well not with them per say, more {FDIC vs. Me} it was a sucky time in my life.

Naw, I was just aggravating you Sourdough. It just seems that everyone here that is from Alaska, you either know, or know their "Neighbor" or someone fairly close by them.

I am talking about the Tom Williams that was on the Donahue show trying to get mail order brides for his mining crew. He had the Pay Streak mine and when played out built an old style mining town as a tourist trap. It was at the end of Resurection creek road just past the recreational mining area. I heard it burned down. It has been a long time since I lived in Hope but that guy was such a character you must have heard of him even if he is not around any longer.

I took the Mother-in-law there around Thanksgiving last year. Pretty cool place.
