It's a tragic thing but I wish they'd just leave animals alone in their habitat and stop making them perform for our amusement.

I agree Benesse and somebody should really pay attention to what orcas behave like in the wild. Not a critter I'd want to go swimming with.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Keep in mind the problem may be extremely complicated, though the "Fix" is often simple...

I didn't read the story - so don't know if this was mentioned - I sure hope they don't destroy a magnificent animal that was just doint what it does, and didn't conform to somebody's idea of how it should behave.

I guess it is both Rick! I had my doubts though, I thought Shamu died. But still you can't tame a wild animal!

I heard it was ruled an accident. Like what if they found it to be murder, would they prosecute the whale?

Shamu, born Shami Minga Sushi, was born in 1961 near Puget Sound. She attended school at the Orca Pod of Performing Arts. She got her big break in show business in 1963 when she starred in the off Seaworld production of "Annie Get Your Gun", in which she received a Tony for her performance (Tony's body was subsequently recovered). Throughout the remainder of the '60s, Shamu starred in a variety of SeaWorld stage productions including the smash comedy, "Killing, eh, It's a Living". Shamu was killed on August 23, 1971 in a three car crash on the Santa Monica freeway. There are various versions of how the wreck occurred but what is known is Shamu's Porsche 911T was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with two other vehicles.
