yes. you would have to get a feel for how low to aim, depending on the angle at which you're looking at the water's surface [not the fish] and how far under the surface the fish it.

you can test this by putting your spear under the water and looking at the apparent bend in the stick.

Thanks. I love his books. Especially his brian books. Hatchet, Brians hunt, brians return, brians winter, they're all good. Oh and by the way, do you think that i could get a pike with a blowgun? I have seen them really close and i thought if i had a bow and arrow... or blowgun... I have had instances where a ten pounder came right up to the boat and took a wrecked minnow. I had a chance for a ten pounder.

What about just harpooning a fish? Not killing it but bringing it in with a barbed dart. Any ideas?

as pike are often the quarry of ice spearing, where they must be lured to the top, i'm certain that with a working design and technique that it would be otherwise the same.

Aim low though I don't believe a blowgun to be an acceptable means of spearin fish I have owned several and while amazingly accurate at short range ,,,,,,, not alot of power I'd just as soon fashion a spear
