    Default Weather!!

Now, does someone want to clean the snow out of my driveway? We have about 9 inches on the ground and 35 mph winds overnight. Homeland Security has shut down travel in many surrounding counties and our county is under restricted travel.

How much snow do you folks have on the ground in AK? 3 feet?

Those of you east of here take care. I know you're getting dumped on. I think WV is looking at a 3' snowfall and slightly lesser amounts in NY, DC, Philly. Take care!!!

I just sent an email to one of the local TV stations and asked them to remind folks that if they must go out to carry a blanket, vehicle bag and to only run the engine 10 minutes in every hour, crack windows, clear exhaust pipe. I don't know why they hadn't already reported it. Sheeesh.

Just another day in paradise here, about 3 1/2' of old snow, and last night about 5" of fresh, still snowing, should snow for 8 more hours. A glorious day for a SkiDoodle ride......

Rick! Rick! It's your Birthday today! OF COURSE I'll shovel out your driveway for you! Will you give me a cup of hot chocolate when I've finished?

Now let me get dressed nice and warm, and I'll go outside and walk over to your house right away! I'll bring my own shovel, too!

I've just gotta' stop by my brother's place in Virginia on my way to your house. He and his boys have shoveled four times since yesterday afternoon, and I wanna' inspect their work...........

Lightbulb I just figured it out! Duh?

It took me over 50 years, but I just figured it out!

It's not the snow that I hate, it's the cold!

If the temperatures were in the 90's, I wouldn't mind a couple of feet of snow. Maybe I should call Al Gore.........

Somebody took mine. Only a few flurries and zip on the ground. We just got rain and besides I ate all the emergency provisions I was preparing to enjoy if we were snowed in. Didn't bother putting the Jeep in its stall either and was surprised waking up to nothing this morning.

Too bad, Coot. I was gonna' go by your place with my shovel. I figure that whatever you hand out would be a bit better than hot chocolate.

The Dept Of Transportation only plows the road into our community on a last priority bases. So it is closed with unplowed snow for days. Their (DOT) number one job in a heavy snowfall is to keep the Turnagain Pass open.

Got 4" here, but the drifts,oh my!!!! I had to leave early for work to be there by 7 (actually it was my day off,but one employee has missed his last day of work, and I had agreed yesterday to come in).

The outside light decided not to come on last night, and when I stepped out,I at first thought,eh this ain't bad,BUT,about halfway to the jeep,I was over knee deep in the stuff, started to rethink my promise to go in,LOL,but I made it,saw a couple of cars that weren't so lucky.

Rick, I will trade. I have been snow blowing 26 inches of snow, 45 mph winds and drifts up to my ***. I do half the house on my street. The only problem is the shot of brandy and a beer at each stop (I work cheap). Just south of us in southern NJ, they have a blizzard ,high winds and 30 inches and still snowing. The weird part is the roads north, (Newark and north) are dry. And the #$%^&*() snow plow just went through and plugged the driveways , I don't think I can drink anymore beer and bandy

We have had snow coming down, for a couple of hours, but it isn't sticking. Before that we had over 3" of rain. (Seriously.)

My comment on 9 inches and 35 MPH winds was that you guys in AK get this all the time. It's part of the daily grind in the winter and they've forbidden travel in some counties here. Crazy.

sjj - They employee contractors and equip other vehicles with plows when we have a larger snow. Indy had 100 vehicles on the roads last night. As far as power outages, I can't remember the last time we didn't have power. It's one of the reasons I waited so long to buy a generator. It wasn't part of the immediate threat.

Power utilities around here, at any rate, still do trim trees all summer long but where I live everything is buried.

By the way, the sun is out and the roads that were plowed are now snow free. Just wet. I finally went out and plowed my own driveway since none of you stopped by to do it. Thanks.

    Don't blame us!

    2dumb and I tried!

First, I rang the doorbell and nobody answered. Then 2dumb rang the doorbell, and then we saw a shotgun come sticking out of a window, so we just went next door and shoveled out your neighbor instead.

So.....the driveway was there. The snow was there. Why on earth would you bother knocking on the door? Just get busy and shovel! Did you need supervision?

clearing the driveway is a breeze...I just fire up the plow truck, turn up the heat (and radio) and push the snow back. Now, shoveling the roof off when it has 18" or better...now that is a job I dont like!

I just snow machined over to feed and water the geese. When I got the corral gate open, I nearly wet myself watching 17 twenty pound geese with 5" legs plow through 12" of heavy wet fresh snow, just these heads sticking up. They had fun, and I got a giggle.

Sourdough, sometime around the 5th. of last month, we got about 2 feet of snow here. Among other critters, we have 2 Beagles and a Bassett Hound. I understand.

You should see 18" tall chickens trying to plough through a foot of snow.... Like you said Sourdough, I nearly wet myself, They tried launching themselves too, the take off was OK, but the landing had to be seen to be believed! kindof like a bunch of feathers impacting in talcum powder.
