I suppose it would weed out some of those who only made it that far by accident or pure luck.

It tastes sweet and many vehicles in warmer climates have coolant so dilluted that it would take a several ounces to do you in but once antifreeze is ingested it never leaves. It does irreversable damage to the brain and would only be an extreme last resort (drink or die.)

A toxic dose requiring medical treatment varies but is considered more than 0.1 mL per kg body weight (mL/kg) of pure substance. Copied from the Wiki

Even then it's a lot of risk.

What advantage would it have? Drinking alcohol in a survival situation only tends to exasperate the situation. Would you gain enough hydration to offset any risk?

Wait, Wait, WAIT!!!!! This guy is a former Marine and the only weapon he has is his flashlight??? Between this show with spiderboy weaponless and the other show "after apocalypse" where the main characters are throwing weapons away .... what gives???
How stupid are the writers? Or at the very least, how uninformed are they? Or is it as I truly believe, it is just more propaganda!

Stony: I agree with the flashlight bit not only that but it was a standard maglite and not an led upgraded one which would be much better brighter at least. also did anyone else notice that that tyre iron he had wasnt a tyre iron at all but a pry bar which is a heck of alot lighter than and more functional than a tyre iron and i can assure any local big box or hard ware store has more pry bars(or similar bit of metal) than people so need to carry it unless you really need to.

    Default All good points

I was just catching up on this thread. Seems like the verdict is "Overly dramatic nonsense" across the board. I concur

Drinking water from a radiator? Suicide. Instant guaranteed kidney failure if there is any ethylene glycol (antifreeze) in it.

Almost as bad as watching Bear Grylls squeeze liquid from elephant turds into his mouth. What an idiot. Try surviving the dehydration dysentery is going to give you

These guys should definitely NOT be teaching survival. I watch the shows out of an almost perverse pain I feel from observing the horrendous mistakes these guys peddle as "Skills".

Taking unecessary risks (jumping off cliffs, swimming frozen lakes when you could walk around them, swinging from drawbridges and doing other questionable stuff) is contrary to survival. Unless you are being pursued, I can see no reason to take those risks.

STOP. Stop, Think, Observe, Plan. Make preparations and practice with your equipment. If you might get in a gunfight, have a gun.

    Common sense prevails every time
