I don't see it dying Sourdough! Actually it's dead easy to buy gift certificates. I would think perhaps a list of companies that do gift vouchers, some wilderness stores, gardening stores, general merchants and hardware, camping stores etc. If we nominate a treasurer and those that want to put in a bit of cash as as when we can could send the money to the treasurer. At an agreed time of the year those that contribute can nominate a forum member for the award. The gift vouchers are purchased for the nominee and posted to them at the appropriate time. Depending on who the nominee is, an appropriate gift certificate could be purchased.

maybe instead of a gift certificate to Rick's store. It could be fund used at the 3somes descretion on how to help someone. Maybe the person in need, needs a new alternator for there truck, or gas money, or a clean suit of clothes for a job interview or a bus ticket to Alaska, or a ton of dog food...you get the idea.

I think that's a very good idea, Jason. Or something such as a VISA or MC gift card.

Let me check with my credit union about setting up an account. If there are fees I won't though. Anybody that wants to contribute, send me a pm. I'll give you a PO box to send the $ to. I'll post in this thread our balance sheet. When the panel tells me to send a gift card, I'll get one and send it to the designated recipient. If I don't open the account (really trying to keep this simple) an envelope in my gun safe will be the bank, again with the balance sheet posted here. What ever y'all decide or want to change - let me know.

Another member was just telling me about paypal. I don't know anything about it, so I'll look into it. I guess I'm just an analog guy living in a digital world.

Before we take this any further, I think we need to get permission from Chris. It is his house, so we need to abide by his rules.

Yes,I agree. Even though it is a very worthwhile cause, it is his place. We need to know what he thinks first of all.

Liability might be his biggest concern. Afterall, I may have just spent the last 16,738 posts giving you a false sense of security about my reputation.

This is a good idea, and even if nothing comes of it, but because of it, I realized the Rick has a store.
