Snow can cause main roads to be dangerous to travel. Our preparations include assembling two bug out bags and a vehicle emergency bag with an add on bag specifically to address cold weather.
Food stores are a necessity, roads can be hard to travel on for several days. We are currently at two months but need to organize better.

Want to learn: Hunting, and processing meat and hides, wild edibles and medicinals, safe camping and extended hiking, beyond a park and unload camp site.
Your Membership and Learning Objectives: I joined this forum to gain knowledge and practice the things I learn. The events that took place when Hurricane Katrina hit, taught me that in an emergency situation if large enough, there is a point you are on your own not knowing when or if help will arrive.
I choose to be more a part of the solution then part of someone else's problem. The sooner I am able to stabilize my family's position in an emergency situation the sooner I will be able to see to those around me. I have a lot of work to do to get to were I want to be. This forum has been a great help. Now if I could just get the house in IL sold I could pick up the pace.
