Thread: Top 20 (YCC R.O.T.Y.)

  1. #1

Thumbs up Top 20 (YCC R.O.T.Y.)

Since there has been a LOT of talk about Reputation, stats, and History etc. I thought I would see just who the Top dogs were by Rep.( a minor Stat I can look up without having to rely on a Mod) At the time of this the top 20 in order are:

    1) Canid
    2) Sarge
    3) Rick
    4) Crash
    5) Sourdough
    6) YourComfortingCompany
    7) poco (I was surprised)
    8) RWC1969
    9) klkak
    10) Nell
    11) Ken
    12) FVR
    13) lucznik
    14) Rebel
    15) Trax
    16) Pict
    17) Owl Girl
    18) Beowulf
    19) erunkiswldrnssurvival
    20) sjj

I thought it interesting that 3 of us are relative newcomers. YCC, sjj, and myself have all arrived here within the last 6 months.( I joined in July I think)
I don't understand why I am in there, but I can understand why everyone else is. Take me out of that count, and you have 19 of the most prolific and valuable contributors.
So while some don't place any value on the "Rep Point System" I can see that it works for a good cause.
Heck I think this even qualifies YCC as Rookie of the year!!! (although he ain't no rookie except to the Forum) Too bad there ain't a Trophy!

Don't cut yourself short. Your expose of life on the streets is unquestionably one of the best all around posts on survival.

See, Poco, I have a completely different viewpoint. Having been here since tv was in black and white and having all the posts that I do, being where I am on the list reminds me gently of how many of my posts were basically drivel. Fortunately for me (although probably no one else), I'm perfectly comfortable with that and will press onward unabated. LOL>
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Yeah, it looks like about 1% of what I contribute is important...I hope I am at least entertaining!

I'm humbled. There are many others that I think should be before me. I dunno what to say so Thanks! and I will do my best to contribute more good information and ideas.

I wish I hadn't posted this now. I didn't mean for anyones feelings to be hurt. I was just excited to see YCC so high up,(deservedly so,I believe) as he has posted a LOT of valuable tutorials lately. Not that others don't post good stuff. It's just that in the short time he has been here, he has made many Valuable contributions.

I don't see your posts as Drivel! You have a quick wit and good returns in all your replies.

Actually I respect what you say C10. You know your subjects. Actually I respect every one of the "regulars" even if we don't agree, and some of the "irregulars", people that read and don't post very often. the rest I don't know.

OK, so one, maybe two threads(if you count the one Remy started,About what refugees need/use). Still that shouldn't have placed me that high in the "standings". Yeah Occasionally I actually surprise myself and say something fairly decent.... mostly about knives or sharpening and such as that. Or judgments about something that is based off stuff that I have read. Or I am in the process of learning like wild edibles, Yet WE, Nightshade, and some others are way more knowledgeable about.

Likewise there are some that didn't place as high that I think SHOULD be "Up There". WildWoman Sarky, and Jason are some that come to mind.

Nah Poco, I'm glad you posted this! I was making light of myself. It was a good thread to start and YCC should get the recognition. I follow his threads and have learned lots from him. I have left rep for many of the top 20.

I miss Remy. I had such good times debating him.
    1. If it's in your kit and you don't know how to use it....It's useless.
    2. If you can't reach your kit when you need it....Its useless.

    Me too!

Rep is good for what on here? Really I mean I don't put much into the rep thing, you either like me or you don't, take me or leave me but I care not which one you choose because I will always be me.
I try to post things to help, play around and hack on some people and things but all in fun.
Anyway just my two cents worth.
But congrats to all the top rep winners.

Sarky, that's bull. I like you and alot of the things you say. Rep is given by individuals clicking on the lil whirly thing of horns or whatever it is on the bottom, so some click on it some don't. Being on here and never speaking would be a crime, EVERYONE can teach us something, so personally I don't put alot into rep, sure I give it out, but I just click on a bunch of members until it tells me to spread it around or do it later.

There is no greater solitude than that of the Tracker in the forest, unless perhaps it's that of the wolf in the wilderness.

I PMed him a while back(maybe a month or two back) and asked him why he didn't post anymore. He said he preferred to just sit back and read. (Keep in mind I'm paraphrasing from memory) That he preferred to watch and not post. I won't swear to this but I believe he signs in as "Invisible Log In",'cause he answered my Pm and I never saw him on the users list for who's online. Heck he could be here right now.

Trax I absolutely agree!! A slightly humorous tale from when I was a boat guide in the Okefenokee..... Rick will get a kick out of this, since he don't like 'Gators.

I was giving a boat tour in a John boat one day and had some tourists with me. I pulled over to the side by a tree to show some plant to them... Spanish moss flowers I think. I stepped up on the gunwale to reach it and fell in! I went all the way under... and came up laughing!! The poor tourists were scared to death!! They could not understand why I was laughing. As I climbed back in I told them If you can't laugh at yourself then you can't laugh at anyone else!! I did something foolish and got wet.... it WAS funny!!

You might appreciate this little poem I have about myself:

    I pick and I play
    'Cause that's my way
    I hope it's alright
    I hope it's Okay

......Cause I'm gonna' do it anyway!

    I love that poem.

Back when I was mining there was this Newfoundlander, pretty good friend of mine. He and I were always two of the last ones out of the showers (private stalls people no commentary please) and we'd bust into country and western songs, doing duets together. One night another fella stops outside our shower stalls and tells us both he can't stand our singing. We both kind of poked our heads out the showers and looked at each other and my singing partner turns to the guy and says ...we weren't singing for you. Pretty much my attitude all the time.

Seriously (and how often am I serious? I mean really) with all this commentary about the rep points, my viewpoint is this....we are a jury of our peers. We've got a lot of expertise on this forum and anytime someone receives points...they earned 'em. Period. So anyone that got up there in points really fast had to have posted some stuff that's really good and probably got points from plenty of their peers. Good for them. Personally I find it humbling and an honor anytime someone chooses to acknowledge what I've posted.

Heck, no need to do that, I'm getting a sore arm from patting myself on the back for being in the top 20 list.
