    Cool MY intro...

When I 1st came on here I did a real short intro, some 5000 or so posts back. Also, since I,m always asking "newbies" to post an intro I've decided to an updated one:

    Your Approximate Age: 62

    Your Gender: male

Your Geographic Location (small town in West Virginia, family ranch in Texas, or the “the Lower East Side”): Western Illinois...for now.

Your Occupation (present and relevant past, such as military, technical, etc.): I drive buses.

Your Prior Relevant Training (all types, such as first aid, military, firearms, survival, etc.): I've had CPR & 1st aid training, been in Explorer Scouts & an Assistant Scout Master with the BSA. Everything else is "self-taught."

The Nature of Your Prior Experience (Terrain, Season, Number of times/years, and longest duration in Wilderness): I've camped in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, & the mountains of Colorado

Your Level of Experience (novice, intermediate, advanced, expert, instructor, etc.): Yet to be determined.

Your Preparedness Planning (type and level): Constant study. Family is actively involved.

Your Interests and Hobbies (gardening, wilderness skills, urban survival preparation, knife-making, firearms, food storage, backpacking, etc. ): Fly-fishing, camping, magic, & tournament level chess.

Your Membership and Learning Objectives: I want to learn how to be a member. (Oh come on, you know I couldn't stay serious forever.)

Thanks Sarge, this is especially nice to know for all of us who came
to the game a bit later.
Now it's easier to understand what inspires those smart, level-headed posts of yours.

You know, I've kind of thought about this also. I havnt been here long but my intro was really useless and I should have been one of those guests lurking around for a while longer to get a better feel of what I should have wrote.

Your Approximate Age: 62 (nope its really older than dirt)

    Your Gender: male (that's questionable)

Your Geographic Location (small town in West Virginia, family ranch in Texas, or the “the Lower East Side”): Western Illinois...for now. (Cardboard box under a bridge, a true mobile home)

Your Occupation (present and relevant past, such as military, technical, etc.): I drive buses. (Bootleg Shuttle Craft Pilot)

Your Prior Relevant Training (all types, such as first aid, military, firearms, survival, etc.): I've had CPR & 1st aid training, been in Explorer Scouts & an Assistant Scout Master with the BSA. Everything else is "self-taught."
(Likes to hang with little kids, kinda wierd but the Feds are watching him)

The Nature of Your Prior Experience (Terrain, Season, Number of times/years, and longest duration in Wilderness): I've camped in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, & the mountains of Colorado.
(Got kicked out of the house and had to live off the land until wifey let him come home again)

Your Level of Experience (novice, intermediate, advanced, expert, instructor, etc.): Yet to be determined. (Bear Grylls trained in hotel crashing and expert in his own mind)

Your Preparedness Planning (type and level): Constant study. Family is actively involved. (Actually the family is tired of hearing all the doom and gloom crap and let go in one ear and out the other, nodding yes just to make him feel good)

Your Interests and Hobbies (gardening, wilderness skills, urban survival preparation, knife-making, firearms, food storage, backpacking, etc. ): Fly-fishing, camping, magic, & tournament level chess. (The magic says it all doesn't it... lol... ya know Sarge Chris Angel is a Duetsch Bag)

Your Membership and Learning Objectives: I want to learn how to be a member. (Oh come on, you know I couldn't stay serious forever.)
(You outta wanna learn how to be a normal productive citizen first, quit being a goof and creepy old man, stop picking on newbies, and for God's sake change that profile pic it scares the he11 outta me!!!)

Oh that was fun. Oh Sarge... love ya bro.

There is no greater solitude than that of the Tracker in the forest, unless perhaps it's that of the wolf in the wilderness.

Thanks old girl, ya know, when I was but a lad back in Junior High, my favorite fictional character was Sir Arthur Conan Doyles' Sherlock Holmes. A few days ago Turner Classic Movies did a S.H. marathon. Hollywood, in the form of Universal Studios murdered the whole thing! (sigh) Oh to see it done right.

Yeah. I can't drive that thing at all. The only time I ever tried the engine belched and then the whole thing backfired. After that there was a horrible stench of gas.

Sherlock Holmes! He's my other hero!! If you want a good representation then there's only one.. Jeremy Brett. He played Holmes in a series made by a TV company over here, most of the stories were produced. Give these a go and enjoy!

I agree Sarge, Hollywood got a hold of Sherlock Holmes and now he's a sword fighting, muscle ripped pit fighter that actually kills people in the movie.
The shame of Hollywood for doing this to a great writers hero is sickening. We'll have to see what they do to Robert E. Howards Solomen Kane when it comes out in the begining of 2010... hope they do better than they did with the Conan flicks which suk'd.

Back in my "Hippie" days we conjectured what Holmes put in his pipe. In the stories he used narcotics. Also, Watson was a lot smarter than the way Hollywood made him look; they turned him into an English Lou Costello!

My favorite spin on the Sherlock Holmes storyline was a movie made to put a different twist on the whole Sherlock Holmes/Dr. Watson connection titled "Without a Clue," Starring Michael Caine as Holmes & Ben Kingsley as Dr. Watson. Really interesting, if you gotta change things up.

    BTW, I actually own a tweed "Deerstalker" double-billed hunter's cap! Heh-heh!
