I think after that , you have earned a bit of "rambling" in your posts!! I never had anything like that happen to me, but I think I would spend most of my remaining days staying in doors. You are about the luckiest guy I have heard about.
In all seriousness though, did you have any residual injuries?

Okay, Okay, you got hit by lightening. But what about the crane? Did anyone get it fixed? Were the airplanes able to land? And what about Brown and Root? Did they find an office jockey to fill in while you were in the hospital? Answers, man. We need answers! You should have been a writer for cliff hanger serials!!!!!!!!!!
(Great story. I'm glad it turned out okay for you)

Living in the lightning capital of the world, I have gained a healthy respect for it (as I have for all that Mom Nature can provide). Glad it worked out OK for you.
Great story, and glad you are still around.
Seriously have you had any other near misses?
The reason I ask is that a friend has been hit a couple of times, both times while being on the phone.
Nobody comes anywhere near him if there is a storm.
Still has back problems, loose teeth, phantom pains, has fought off pain med addiction and all sorts of problems.
One thing I found interesting, was the Birch bark tea that he was given by a Native American medicine women.
The claim is that lightning will never strike a birch tree. ( News to me?)
He's still drinking it.
Guess it's working, as he hasn't been struck for a while now, of course he doesn't spend a lot of time on the phone either.

Did you get "sick pay" or were you counted AWOL and fired? Didn't get a bonus I guess, probably didn't get worker's comp either. Learned a valuable lesson, never volunteer for anything.
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old
to fight... he'll just kill you.
I dont believe a word of it...I think you just pulled it out your a$$!!Just kidding! Nice story and I'm glad you are around and able to tell it!!
Yeah. yeah. But what about the crane?!

AHHH sea stories..... I just love telling them.
We were out on a 10 hour all nighter patrol over the north atlantic. We had been dodging thunder bumpers while trying to keep track of a soviet boomer. All of a sudden the flight station was lit up brighter than day and we could hear a boom. The plane was shuddering badly. I switched to white lights since we couldn't see squat with our night vision shot to hell. It was about that time that the forward radar ( which sit pretty much right next to me) started smoking badly. I pulled the breakers for that and our inflight tech pulled it to swap with the aft radar unit. We still couldn't get the forward radar to work. So we swapped it back and had to do 360s to work our way around the thunder bumpers. When we landed we found out why the plane was shuddering so badly. We had a hole in the nose dome the size of a beach ball and the forward radar dish was totally fried.
Just one of many sea stories.
I know what hunts you.
Sjj, well done!
But I mean, y'all did leave your self wide open................
BTW-My comment about the birch bark tea is true.

That sucks SJJ, but funny as hell. Gives a whole new meaning to ride the lightning.
I've had a few close encounters with lightning and now I do my best to avoid it.
They say if you ever feel your hair standing on end you best move out of the area and quick.
But, sjj....you know I'm just poking fun at you.LOL
And for the record, I didn't delete that post......someone moved it , to the 2D2K vs Ken thread.![]()

The story of my life is being bested. And now by a cat. It's a sad, sad world. Soy sauce anyone?

It was still a good story. I might use it later.
No, it was me that said "wok the cat".
BTW, This came to mind when I was first reading the pussy cat thread.
Remember the old "Off to See The Wild West Show" song?
Camp fire participation, cool aid drinking song.
Group sing: We're off to see the wild west show,
We're off to see the wild west show,
The monkeys and the kangaroos.
No matter what the weather
As long as we're together,
We're off to see the wild west show
(now some one insert animal here)
S.One:The Bengal tiger!
Group:The Bengal Tiger? No S**T, G** ***m,
Tells us about the the Bengal Tiger!
S,One:The Bengal Tiger is a 520lb pussy cat in the
jungle, that can eat you!
Continue with more animals............
