C-g, take a look. I've placed two orders, and was very pleased with the products, value, and service:

The handle is just simplicity - how does it fit in your hand?

If by what I have learned over the years, allow me to help one person to start to prepare. If all the mistakes I have made, let me give one person the wisdom that allows them to save their life or the life of a loved one in an emergency. Then I will truly know that all the work I have done will have been worth every minute.
You're welcome Oldsoldier. I just got PO'd when your stuff was stolen. Merry Christmas.
@sjj - I'm good for right now on paracord.![]()
Yes, I have. I also incorporated some fishing and snaring gear into the inner portions of the belt so it was a survival belt of sorts. I think 64 feet is what I used. I don't remember for certain. It was a real pain controlling the ends while braiding it because they were so long.

I'm playing around with a new weave that I like. It would provide a lot of cordage for a bel, but it's a real pain to work with. I'm doin a rifle sling with it now, and started out with 70 feet of paracord. A belt that would fit me would have.........well, let's just say a lot!
Yeah, did a sling for my 10/22 as well.
CG - The biggest problem I had was finding something to cover the business end of the fishing hooks. I finally settled on heat shrink, which seems to work okay. Heat shrink comes in tubes so you can put your stuff inside it an seal both ends if you want. If I had it to do over again I might include gorge hooks instead of modern hooks. My concern is always catching myself with one of the darn things.

sjj - It's really no different than any other braid. Just a LOT more paracord. You can do a search for a cobra braid. There are tons of tutorials. The guess work comes in the waist size. I've never figured out how to determine how much is needed so I usually start with more than I need. I always find a use for the left overs.
The cobra braid with come out about 3/4 of an inch wide. If you want something wider then you can do a King Cobra braid. It will come out 1.5 inches but you'll need twice as much paracord.
There are some other kinds of braids out there but those two are really about the easiest to do.

sjj - here are the three different types of bracelets I make. The one on the left is a Chain Sinett knot and uses about 8 feet of paracord. The center one is the Cobra braid and uses about 10 feet of paracord. The one on the left is some kind of weave (name escapes me) and uses about 17 feet of paracord. The sling I'm making has the same weave as the bracelet on the right.
sjj - I have found this site to be very good. http://stormdrane.blogspot.com/
Stormdrane is simply amazing. And don't be shy about asking questions. That how most of us learn.

A buddy of mine gave me a paracord belt once... Really cool and a great way to carry some with me I thought.
Only problem is when I used it for lashing for a shelter I made I ended up ruining it... And my pants kept falling down
Ended up keepin my pants up by tying a short piece in a knot. Kinda mad at myself for ruining a cool gift that had obviously taken some time to make..
Every time I try to braid it comes out pretty disgusting.. I'll hafta check that site out!
