i've heard horror stories about americans going into the emerg room
and walking out the door later with a hospital bill into the thousands

earlier this summer, i was admitted to a hospital for 4 days
and when i walked out the door, there was no HUGE HOSPITAL BILL waiting for me

i guess all these taxes are good for something

plenty of public services; too much taxation.

minimal taxation; poor public services.

this is overly general, but i consider it a basic template for national upkeep.

No mountains, no public land, no BLM, high humidity, no snowboarding, no surfing (along with crappy beaches with lots of jelly fish), close to New Orleans (did I say that out loud?), fire ants, africanized bees, and pokey plants.

Luckily there are good things about it. Texmex food, Rudy's BBQ sauce, Blue Bell icecream, 3 liter soda bottles and a beautiful hill country.

@C-G: I don't about where you are but I think there's something to be said about quality of service as well and in my experience it's sadly lacking in Manitoba's health care system.
