Thread: chop the pole

    Default chop the pole

I was talking to a wilderness survival instructor and she was telling me about this "chop the pole" technique for survival. I cant remember what it was but maybe somebody has heard of it before and can jog my memory

I think the guy was lying. He didn't really cut off his "willy". He just wanted everyone to believe he did. He even fooled the doctors.

Oh, Sarge and Crash aren't going to like that snide comment. I've sort of reserved my ban button for important dignitaries and such or I would have just banned you for them.

What a difference a single word makes.

At first, I was insulted because you didn't consider the Director of Quality Control to be an "important dignitary." And then I realized that you had intentionally omitted the word "extremely" from your post.

So it's good to know that your ban button isn't reserved for "extremely important dignitaries" (like the Director of Quality Control) and that you won't be banning me!

"We believe he's Polish and 35. We don't know if he has a history of mental illness. But he's clearly not a well boy," a police source told The Sun newspaper."

Okay, back on topic! I hate it when you guys hijack a thread and go off-topic! (Did I just say that?)

Anyway, teamgreen, is this what you were looking for in your original question?

    "Finding Water

The trick to finding water in the wilderness is to remember that it flows downhill, cuts grooves in the land and produces green growth wherever it's holed up underground. Water is often found at the base of a hill or beneath the lowest point of a dry riverbed. Another approach is to follow heavily trafficked game trails downhill, these typically lead to watering holes.
Look around tangles of alder or willow, reeds or palm trees, since this is the vegetation that grows alongside a waterway. In the tropics, you can retrieve rainwater from leaves and natural basins. To collect it, chop a bamboo pole in half and lay the two sides beneath your shelter roof to catch the run-off."
