Perhaps you should not look for it until a quarter to fall. From the look of the vessel and the provisions Rick has provided, I do forsee some delays

aahh,, if only that were true. Our esteemed Civilian leadership, with their vast military leadership and knowledge has always seen fit to do their level best to make sure that the military always has at least one hand tied behind their back. HENCE the need for rules of engagement, we would not want to have an unfair advantage over some poor misguided enemy

Ya see....that's why I want to be "Secretary of common sense".

With me, it would go something like this.

    S. of C.S.- General, country "X" has become a threat. The POTUS, and congress have decided that we are going to war. What do you need to get the job done?

General- What job is that, Mr sec.

    S. of C.S- Eliminate the threat.

General- I'm not sure what is expected, or what the rules of engagement are.

    C. of C.S.- OK, let me 'splain. Go over there. Open up a great big can of whoop-a$$, kick the dog sh** out of them, and bring our people on back home, just as quick as you can get done!

...and when I say kick the dog sh** out of them, I mean bad enough that the next couple of countries will quickly scrap any ideas of mouthing off at us.

    Five, and the cat.

Caught another one last night. I have a suspicion it wasn't "him" though.
I fed it to Bobcat for breakfast, you know just to keep him keen. Then I thought, whats wrong with this picture?? shouldn't he be catching the mice?

This is one of the joys of country living I could do without..... Normally five traps, the cat and a week and that's it. Little b**gers must have had a population explosion. Ten days and counting and the war war carries on....

My morals won't allow chemical warfare. Besides the cat or the girls might eat a tainted one.

don't use poison. try the sticky traps Rick mentioned. We have some rather big mice here too, they look like pack-rats (i'm wondering how they taste). We have a couple cats and one of them we call Spike. she's all soft and sweet till you show her a squirrel or raw meat or a rat, then it's "oh-hell-no you ain't takin my food". Spike likes to eat 'wild'.

We took a trip to the zoo over the summer and the reptile house guide said that a snake that eats 25 mice in a year prevents the birth of 2500 mice. apparently mice breed several times a year.
Might be time to get a pet snake!

I would never use poison, apart from the above reason, have you ever smelt a mouse that's crawled off into an inaccessible place to die?

As I have to wait 'til a quarter to fall for reinforcements(just in time for next years invasion) We'll keep going.

Oh just to let everyone know, the mouse caught last night was tempted with a strawberry jellybean tied on to the trigger.

Winnie, unless you are prepared to hear a very loud screaming mouse, avoid the sticky traps. Also, right call on using poisons with pets that may be curious (same for kids). I would suggest that in addition to the bait you place in the trap (I usually use peanut butter), also spread a small amount under the trigger so that it is difficult to reach. Then set two of your traps facing each other (so that they close toward each other). If that doesn't work, add a third (two facing each other and one perpendicular).

Yep,what Crash said,I used the sticky traps once, and caught a litter of baby mice on it,thinking that it still had plenty of room for momma left,I didn't discard it right away,BUT those babies cried and cried like mad,so I finally took it out and tossed it.

Oh,and don't even think you can pull them off the glue so you can reuse it,cuz that glue is stronger than the mice bones, and well the mice kinda go to pieces, not a ptretty picture at all....(don't ask me how Iknow...)

Mineral spirits works pretty good for getting them off the traps without hurting them further.

I'l try the new approach Crash, with luck the little sh*te will be so busy getting the bait off one, he'll back straight into the other!

Progress reports will be in the diplomatic bag shortly.....
