My woman has called me Fred Sanford, but that's OK. I come by it honest. I've heard my mom call my dad Fred Sanford. LOL

If by what I have learned over the years, allow me to help one person to start to prepare. If all the mistakes I have made, let me give one person the wisdom that allows them to save their life or the life of a loved one in an emergency. Then I will truly know that all the work I have done will have been worth every minute.

Ammunition? Well I suppose - if all of my guns hadn't been lost in the move.

Since all of our guns have been stolen (mine included ) does that make us all victims of gun crime?

Why wouldn't you take something thats free?? You can always figure out what to do with it later, I mean, IT'S FREE! And if it's free why wouldn't you take two?? If one free thing is good then two free things is clearly twice as good, right?

I don't need to hoard stuff, if TSHTF, I just have to choose my victims carefully.
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Jack London wrote several essays about men who nearly starved to death in the arctic, and once recovered, they always had food in every pocket. Those who ran out of matches, and nearly froze, they either left the arctic or hoarded matches. Matches are one of the many things that I hoard.

I think those of us who were raise in poverty, and left home with nothing at the age of 15, (as I did) We value things differently. Know one gave us anything, and what we worked for we are going to keep it till it is totally useless, and then see if parts of it can be salvaged. Even if I buy new stuff, I still save (Hoard) the old stuff.

A few years ago a neighbor tore down a old barn. He has dozer's and backhoes, he could have pushed it into a pile and burned it, but he removed each board, then removed each nail carefully, and put it into a five gal. bucket with other nail of the same size. He had 14 buckets of used nails. He was a good man, he was my friend.

It seems that I'm an exception here... I've always been a big fan of "winging it". That's why I only have a steady supply of beer...
Survival is not about surviving AGAINST the nature. It's about surviving WITH the nature.

You can't go in to nature, nature is not a place or an object. Nature just is. You are living it.

Well said, Sourdough. My wife shakes her head when I stop and pick up that tool in the street or take some broken item apart and put the pieces in the parts bin. Heaven only knows how many times those spare parts have been recycled to live on in some other contraption.

I take it your friend has passed on. If so, my condolences.

There is a "free" area at the town dump where people leave unwanted items.
I have picked up a bunch of good books, canning jars and misc stuff. This week I got a Dietz lantern that just needs a good cleaning!
    It's like a treasue hunt!
"I enjoy surviving." Yes, well I certainly hope so as the other side of that is "DEATH!"

Sourdough - I do believe you've been accused of taking it to extremes.
