Preparing? Who's preparing? I guess I didn't get that memo. I am preparing for the toughest situation ever.....having my mother in law coming to stay with me for a week. Having never met her before and having a very pregnant wife to top it off. Now that is a scary situation.

Oh and I suppose I am preparing for war, famine, drought, all natural disasters....all the normal stuff. Not zombies though....that's just rediculous but if it were to happen I have many guns and lots of ammo.

good luck doug, there's some things we're just not capable of helping you with here. Really, our prayers etc etc...
some fella confronted me the other day and asked "What's your problem?" So I told him, "I don't have a problem I am a problem"

Yeah that may be the one thing that would tear me away from my comfortable couch and 50" TV. A camping trip in this cold weather is actually starting to sound better and better.

I'm preparing for supper and a good night's sleep right now because I just put in three and a half extra hours at work.

but in my life, I think I'm pretty much prepared for the things I might have to worry about.

If I have to bug out, I have the necessary gear and the truck ready to go

Winter storms are a biggy here, but I'm insulated against them and have a pretty good stockpile in the house if I couldn't get out for an extended time

If the economy collapses it's ok because I'm already broke

Martial law wouldn't make Canada much different than it already is, but if they ever go full blown with it again and I think I have to worry about being on someone's roundup list, that's a bugging out scenario (see above!)

    '... NEW TEENAGE DRIVER ..."

Poor guy. When cross country driving starts, put out an APB or BOLO (or whatever is correct) to increase OUR preparedness level. Just kidding, good luck.

All of us, no matter where we live in the world have to contend with natures fury at one time of the year or another. Some of us live where nature isnn't on a time table (earthquakes). So we have to be ready year round for that inevitability along with seasonal climate disasters or a combination of these. Of course then there are the man-made disaster scenarios which can happen at any time as well. So what am I preparing for???? everything that could happen to me here and then some!

Ten years ago, if I told you that "twenty lunatics with nothing more than box cutters would turn 4 commercial airliners into guided missiles, take down 2 skyscrapers and murder over 3,000 Americans in three states" you would have thought me crazy.

    Now, I prepare for anything.

Prepare for work every morning, dealing with the thugs and idiots of Cincinnati, as a cop I stay prepared when at work. Off duty I don't really prepare because I try to be ready for whatever comes at me and the family, got a Bug out bag, emergency kit in the cars, food storage for disasters, ammo for the guns, clothing, all that kit I may need. But I don't live where it floods or where earthquakes hit, we get tornado's every once in great while but how do prepare for that, basement is full of my kit already so I guess I am prepared for that.
Keeping up on my woodsmen skills is being prepared, so I guess I'm good.
Your mind is the best defense against anything that is thrown in your path, stay calm and think your situation thru and all will be okay.
Never really thought about it, civil unrest means I get called into work to help quell the problem soooooo, hmmm I dunno.

So, you are preparing for the same thing. There is no difference between war, famine, drought, and your mother in law coming plus a pregnant wife.

You know what, that is absolutely right. T minus 24 days and counting until the disaster is here. Might have to just head out into the wilderness and see if I can make it. All I need is a metal cup, good knife and fire starters right....how hard could it be?

LOL Doug, You can get through any situation as long as you know when it will end.

We prep mostly for economic collase and natural disasters. We had an ice strom last year that left many without power for nearly a month.

The economy is always fragile. Doesn't take much to crash it. If nothing bad ever happens we at least saved money by buying in bulk and taking advantage of sales. Food never gets cheaper...
