I will more or less stay off this subject. I agree with some and not with others. But, it is, in my opinion, a religious discussion, and therefore against the forum rules. I am not a moderator so I can't enforce it. I do like discussing religion, and this seems like a decent topic, but not here. PM me if you want to talk further.

Yeah, I hate it when that happens, then their eyes turn red and they start spewing fire out their nostrils and before you know it they're sprouting giant leathery bat wings and devouring children.....anger, such a waste of energy...sigh...

All I have to say on this subject is this: It's hard to admit to there being "Good" without also admitting that there is "Evil". Kinda' like legal and illegal, Can't have one without the other. Rain and sun, Yin and yang, etc.

Yes I believe. When I was about 10 years old I was sitting on the basement steps of my grandmothers house. We kept a toy basket at the bottom of the stairs and off to the right. While sitting there, a basketball rose out of the basket and flew directly at me. I immediately turned tail and ran up the stairs. When I arrived back upstairs (1 second later) both my grandparents and brother were upstairs. Needless to say I wouldn't venture back to basement for years. I found out later in years that my great grandfather had died in the house and I have wondered if it had been him.

I believe in God, Jesus, Satan, demons and angels. I don't believe they physically control or show themselves to us, without us consciously allowing it. I think the only demons are the ones of the mind. If people can't control their own evil thoughts then they are in effect possesed by a demon. I do not believe in "Carrie" or tel-evangelists healing people.

Ironic as it may sound, I just received a pamplet from the County Road Commission titled "Getting to the Other Side" or "How to Safely Cross a Busy Street Using a Pedestrian Signal".

Toward the end of the lengthy 10 paragraph explanation they essentially complained about being underfunded for roadwork and went on to explain how much it costs to pave a mile of road. I wonder how much it cost to design, publish, print, distribute these 5 color pamplets? What could have "possesed" them to waste our tax money on such a frivilous venture?

    Default "misunderestimated"

I am definitely surprised by how many people in these forums
    believe in the supernatural.
Given all they seem to be about, I expected a more pragmatic bunch.

I used to believe in them, but the voices in my head told me I should stop.

Well, you see....I'm not real smart, so it's not hard for me to believe that there are things that I just don't understand.

Oh great. That's all I need is Oly for a guardian angel.

"So, Rick, why did you rob the liqueur store?"
"Well, officer, my lumpy chair made me do it."

No sir. That just ain't gonna fly.

My dear BENNESSE - Science and Math can't explain everything. I have yet to see the equation where 1+1=3 But put 1 male and 1 female and you end up with 3 people... Or 1+1= 12 cats in one litter or 6 or however many. But they tell us that Math can explain everything. Think about it. How many times have doctors said "they shouldn't be alive", or the flip side of the coin "there's no way THAT should have killed them". No amount of examination or theories can explain everything. Some things you will never know 'til you experience them. The only thing I remember from science that I totally agree with is - "Question EVERYTHING".
The kind of Pragmatism you are talking about is also assumption.... Assume that car will stop when you step in front of it can get you hurt. There are a good number of things in this world that no one can explain. People guess at what they are and call them "theories".
It really is no different than in Columbus' day when every one thought the world was flat, and everyone then thought "How dare you say otherwise". There is SO MUCH that we don't know and may never know. Who am I to say which is right or which is wrong?

I was told a long time ago: DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR AND ONLY HALF OF WHAT YOU SEE. Got me this far. Waste of time looking over your shoulder and listening for something that ain't there. My humble opinion, works for me.
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old
to fight... he'll just kill you.

Poco, I wasn't passing judgment one way or another. It was just an observation.
As you said, there are a lot of unexplained things that at this point we don't have the capacity to figure out.
Questioning them is something we as humans do.
Saying "I don't know" when we don't really know is something we as humans
    should perhaps do more often.

Now see, that's what I was expecting!
    So I didn't completely misjudge.
