hello all
my name is russell. i'm 25 and i have been into backpacking and survival since about age 18. i've hunted, fished, and trapped as far back as i can remember.
my brother and i do "survival weekends" 2-3 times per year. we usually go to my grandfather's place. its about 80 acres of woods with a pond full of crappie. its honestly not a hard scenerio. we boil water, catch fish, set snares. we also bring a .22 or 12 ga. at times. the past 2 years i have limited myself to my glock 19 9mm since i carry it concealed (legally) 99% of the time.
i have several books on survival. i also am starting wild edible plants. i purchased 3 books and have been going on hikes with a local "expert".
as far as traps and fishing, im sufficient if i have my kit with me. i can start fires with flint and matches all day but havnt done much friction. i can build non-elaborate shelters that work well for our needs. i can boil water again, with my kit. i have also collected with dew.
so overall im decent but a beginner in so many ways. i will be asking more questions than giving advicei also do more reading than posting.
