    yes, a simple faraday cage could be constructed of sheet metal.

    the faraday cage functions by conducting currents around it's contents, so there is no need to conduct through them. since electrical currents take the path of least resistance [best conduction] a conductive housing could likely be ample.

    Sort of like being in a car when lightening strikes it. You'll be just fine because the car's body conducted the energy rather than it passing through you. Same principle with a Faraday cage.

    That is a cool project. THat is something to think about. I was thinking of the steam engine idea because it would not use gas, etc as a possible long term idea. But the "mow-gen" does look like a neat project

    THanks all, I think I will look into the "Faraday" concept perhaps as a storage for potentially "sensitive " component spares , and hopefully try to pursue the steam engine idea as a long term solution
