    Default Trying to learn

I am trying to learn how to work this blog stuff. I got some advice and I think that I did what I was told but not sure. I am a firm beliver in listening so please let me know anything I am doing or not doing so I can do better. From looking at the kind of kids out there I know that it can be learned by a old person like me. Please help me out.

Hey Joel !! I see you finally made it here!! Hello and Welcome!! Blogs are nice I guess but the majority of interaction among members happens here in the Forum. This is Where you will meet everyone, Just wait everyone will stop by this thread and say Hello! At the top of this "introduction Section" you will see a "Sticky" about how to do an introduction. Take a moment and look it over then post what you want about yourself from those guidelines. This will help people get a better idea on how much you know and how much help you may need or not need. Also what kind of help you can give others!!
Again I just want to say Glad to finally have you here, since you have had such a hard time getting here. Welcome!

Joel - a lot of us are learning about this computer stuff. When you say blog - is that really what you mean? Are you talking about the blog section of this site, or a personal blog that you want to do to attract viewers to things you want to say?

    Cool Hi & Welcome!

Joel, the Blog pages are not used for info request, but rather info distribution. Teaching things, relating stories, etc. Got to the information section & fill out the "sticky" info & we'll be able to help you better.

I think Joel really is very new to computers Crash... Or at least to Forums.(No disrespect Joel) When he logged in for the first time yesterday he went straight to the blog section asking for help navigating the site. I replied there,Pm'ed and left a visitor message directing him here. He finally made it here. All along he has asked for help with "this computer stuff". I also PM'ed Rick and guess I should have CC'ed you and Sarge.

Way to Go Joel!! You made it through!! If you go up to the top of the page you will see the tool bar. Over on the right you will see "Quick Links", Click on that and a drop down box will appear. Click on some of the different titles and you will start learning what each one does. If you click on the very bottom one, "Who's Online" it will show you who is online and what they are reading/doing. Or click on the search, type something in it will take you to related "threads" about that. On the Top Left you will see "Wilderness Survival Forums" underlined you can click on that at any time and it will take you back to the main forum menu. You'll learn.

Joel I noticed today that you were watching this thread(That's what each of these mini topics are called) waiting for someone to respond. You may have to go to another thread and come back to it later. Or you could click on "New Posts" and it will show which ones have been responded to recently.Say you went away and your thread looked like this Trying to Learn it would mean that no one has replied to it since you last visited that thread. If it looks like this when you click on "New Posts" Trying to Learn then someone has replied since you were last there.
You Could also do what I did when I first came here. I just clicked on Wilderness Survival Forums (on the toolbar at the top of the page, left hand side)and look to see who has responded to what, or check out each subject area and see if there was anything that looked interesting. I hope I am Helping you out.
Ok the Forum does not work the same as a Chat room. New messages won't show up while you are looking at a thread or post. You have to either go away and come back later or hit the Refresh button, to see new replies to your posts or to threads.
