The saddest part of this thread is everyone complaining and no one offering a solution. Anyone can *****, moan and complain. It takes someone with a smidgen of character to offer a solution. As I've said before. The majority of the people are upset but not SO upset that they are willing to get involved to fix anything. This thread pretty much bares that out.
Rick, in response to your first paragraph, each toll booth handles a MINIMUM of 120 cars/hour. That's an absolute minimum of $240/hour per toll handler. I don't think they're paid that much - yet. And by the way, the "fast lane" corporation doesn't provide its services for free, either.

And here's a couple of solutions:

    1. Ban ALL corporate campaign contributions to candidates and political parties.

    2. Limit personal campaign contributions to $100 per contributor per candidate.

    3. Enact Constitutional term limits provisions at all levels of government.

    4. Enact a Constitutional provision which specifically prevents legislators from exempting themselves from the laws thay enact. Prohibit legislators and judges from receiving any fringe benefit not exactly equal to the fringe benefits provided to the members of our armed services.

    5. Impose "open meeting" laws on ALL legislative gatherings except those involving national security.

    6. Pass a Constitutional amendment providing for the ELECTION of an independent prosecutor with authority limited to the investigation and prosecution of only elected and appointed government officials and anyone associated with the criminal acts of those officials.

    7. Amend the Constitution of the federal government and the states to provide for the enactment of constitutional amendments by Voter Referendum requiring a 2/3 majority vote in two consecutive bi-annual elections.

    8. Limit ALL judges to one seven year term in office.

    9. Prohibit ALL elected officials and judges from accepting ANYTHING of value - even a damned cup of coffee - from anyone other than immediate family members.

    10. Prohibit all elected and appointed officials from employment as a lobbyist for a period of 10 years after leaving office.

    There's 10, Rick. Want another 100?

Pretty sad when so many of our "learned judges" disagree on what even the most simple laws actually mean.

I know that I'm not real smart, but I've tried to read a few actual bills. I thought .."Holy crap.....you'd have to be a lawyer, to understand this stuff", but now it's to the point that I'm not sure an average lawyer could understand what these people are writing.

That's a good start, especially if you pass it on to your elected officials.
Unless Rick can do something about it.

Absolutely! It's done that way so that they don't have to worry about dummies like me, giving them crap about what they are doing.
Heck, not only can they hide what they are doing, they can even come back later and change what they say it means.

Ken: i would rather limit the amount of money that can be spent on a campaign, and to an amount that the average joe could raise if he/she wanted to run.
BENEESE: Of course we have a right to ***** if the people we elect ignor us and do what the big money tells them to do.
YCC: Please get your facts straight before you enter a fray this intense. More than a third of the those who signed the Declaration of Independence, lost everything! Including their family.
1/3 of the population were Torries, 1/3 were neutral, and the last 1/3 were for independence. And the French were not our friends! it was merely convienent for them to help us as it Britian on a 2 front war. If Washington had failed at Trenton the French fleet would have never shown up.
REMEMBER: it only took 1/3 of this countries population to get up off it's *** and turn this country around!
    I know what hunts you.

thats right ken. now we are going to be expected to pay for health care insurance like car insurance with no increase in minimum pay so there goes more of our money on something that (I) dont use, want or need.the last time that i went to a doctor was 10 years ago. if i have to pay $77.00 dollars a month for that i am going to really mad at my gov. I have payed for car insurance for
20+ years and have never made a claim. wasted money for no purposeful reason, the ins company has billked me for thousands of dollars.
